I have my CDL so I'm looking for a company that accepts driving school graduates. The problem is that I would prefer to run in teams, but don't have anyone to run with and I have a wife and two small children at home so alot of home time is really what I want. I'm not AS worried about the money as I am about having someone to help me starting out and home time. So if anyone has ANY ideas as to where to start looking, please, let me know. Thanks![]()

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
The best job...

running team and hometime are two words that don't go together.....i think some companies will pair you up with another company driver if u want to run team, im not exactly sure though..
-
Eagle is correct, teams and home time don't go together. Oil and water. Just starting out with little to no experience most companies that will hire you will require you to ride with a trainer. Don't let the trainer make you do all the work while he gets paid all the miles. Consider a place like Schneider or J.B. that has a lot of dedicated accounts and can get you home on a regular basis. After you have gained experience then you can search for better jobs.

Schneider has a home run program that puts you out for 2 and home for one and still make some decent cake.

we have teams in memphis and chicago that run out for 4.5 days (cali and back) then home for 2.5-3.5 days...
take home is between 1250 and 1500 a week.
only a hand full of our terminals run teams - (we do not in cincy) - but the guys that run them seem to enjoy the start times and schedule. -
That home run plan looks good to start with!

Sorry I have a mean streak in me today!
You mean you want a job that pays you to sit at home?
Sorry; the purpose of teaming is for the truck to always be rolling. If you want decent home time you need to think solo with a co that gets you in on weekends. That is about the best you will do as OTR. You might look at local gigs, but with no exp the pay would be very low. I am a OTR driver and I get in on most weekends. Sometimes it is for 34 hours. Sometimes it is for a couple of days. To be honest with you having small children at home is going to be rough on all of you. Mostly the kids. I would look at my options. I have missed a lot being on the road. Good luck to you! Sorry to crack on you, but I had to laugh when I read the teams and good home time.

latanea--who do you work for?

and notarpsume---who do you work for---if you get home weekends thats a major plus-thats what I do and you have a little time with the kids makes a difference---theres no amount of pay that stand against that

Maverick. I am home a little longer this week. Got home and found out I had a water leak and had to tear my floor out in the bathroom. It is a good thing I took home over a grand last week, cuz I am going to be eating mustard sanwiches for awhile!
