Again why didnt we try to get ahold of someone from inside a car or gas station. This is the trucking business many times you break down and believe it or not it can happen just before your time off. Still doesnt explain how he got sick. My wife would never let me sit in a truck that wont run she would have had a nice warm car for me to sit in

Ok, once again, the gas station was closed, so how's he going to go inside to call? I was still at home, hadn't left to get him yet, because he hadn't called for a ride yet. I'm not psychic, I had no idea he was back and ready until he called. We have children, and I don't leave them to go sit and wait for him until he calls that's he's ready. Maybe that's not how some of your wives do it, but I don't like leaving our kids home alone, at night, for me to go sit and wait. Had he called me first I most definitely would have, however, my husband (the point you're still missing) is a DEVOTED kinda guy. He sat, and called, and waited because that's just him. Might not be how you'd all do it, but that's how he did it. As for him getting sick, again because it seems to be such a big deal to some of you, it was partly from cold and partly because he had a nervous breakdown. Not that that part was really anything I wanted to talk about here, but I had already said that and kinda tire of repeating myself.
I joined here for support as a trucker's wife, because that's what I was seeing when I lurked....and so far, with only a few exceptions instead I'm being ridiculed and pulled apart.
Thanks. I'm sorry if you can't re-read other pages but I've already said ALL OF THIS.

One last thing, to stay on topic here, all I'm saying is if you're even THINKING of Gray's Transportation, for goodness sake, just Google them. Look through the pages and pages and pages of junk that comes up. Compare other trucker's stories to my husband's if you don't believe me, that's fine, but do some research and you will be smacked in the face with similarities. This company is a JOKE, they don't care about their drivers, safety, standards...NONE of it. Just look and you'll see.
Funny thing is once I started looking them up the very first thing I read on them is posted HERE by numerous other trucker's. The very first Google result as a matter of fact, is what originally led me here. If only we'd have looked sooner... -
Thats how these forums work, you post something and every Tom, #### and Harry will only read half of what you say and then try and rip your story apart. Too bad people have to be that way when they can "hide" behind a computer and be jerks.
Good luck in his job search. Keep the faith. -
So how is gray to blame that he wasnt smart enough to get out of the cold and who has a "nervous breakdown" because a company truck needs repair. Its for the best that he is out of the trucking business. Just think what would happen if he ever hit rush hour traffic in down town Chicago he's liable to start shooting.

Here is MY phone call, had this happened to me:
Gray: Gray Transportation, how may I direct your call?
White Dog: Shop please, I am broke down.
Gray: Please hold.
White Dog: Thank you.
(15 minutes on hold)
Gray: Shop...what's your problem.
White Dog: Probably jelled up, cold as hell out here. Could be other issues. Don't know....truck won't start, and if I keep trying the batteries are gonna die.
Gray: Did you try this? Did you try that? Did you look at this? Did you look at that? Is anyone around you can get a jump from?
White Dog: Did all that---won't start.
Gray: O.k., where you at?
White Dog: Mom & Pop Truck Stop, 123 Any St. Anywhere USA (example)
Gray: O.k., we will get a mechanic out there, but it's gonna be 8 to 10 hours before he can get to you.
White Dog: Fine. The truck is in a safe spot, and I am a mile from my house, so I'm gonna have the wife come get me...give the mechanic my phone number and have him call me when he gets to the truck, I will meet him there. It is cold out here.
Then if the company tried to give me some BS about staying with the truck, I would repeat my last transaction, and go home. -
YOU'RE not getting it. He DID get out of the cold, by leaving a non running truck at a CLOSED gas station, and getting a ride home, which is a MILE away. And telling dispatch the situation, and leaving them a contact number.
Seems pretty simple to me.dmaass Thanks this. -
LOL! Don't bother Lonesome; I have given up on this guy. He is either trying to just "keep it going" or....Last edited by a moderator: Jan 25, 2014
Lonesome Thanks this. -
Just to clarify - I had no way of knowing gas station was closed. And my suggestion was he could go inside if he was freezing - didn't say to wait 10 hours in there - but heat is heat & he could have made calls and waited for ride inside.
I'm sorry if you are feeling "bashed" by forum replies, but every Tom, ####, & Harry does have a right to understand your post & to get clarification. I feel terrible for what your family is going through, but this is a very stressful & tough profession - good luck in the future. -
How come the name #### is censored?
