i have been taking notes and realized that for every 10 degrees the temperature drops below 30 i lose about .20 mpg
-
Check all your temperature sensors...coolant, oil, air, ambient air etc. If the mpg drops with a decrease in temps, a thermistor type sensor could be the cause. Century class should not get lower than 6.5mpg loaded.

my friend has 06 Coronado with Detroit egr 14.0L. He only gets 3 mpg. He bought the truck with rebuilt at 800,000 miles. He just placed the egr delete sensor and gets 5 mpg. Is there something what the mechs do something with that engine. I know avg mpg for Detroit egr is 5-6 mpg. What could be the problem with the engine?
-
It could be over fueling? I got around 7mpg with EGR and 8 to 9mpg w/out EGR. If you ever come down to houston, i can take a look at it for you.
-
If I will ever be able to drive that Coronado.
-
With that low MPG i would tell him to check his turbo, charge air cooler, intercooler boots, and the boost sensor

10-4. Many of my relatives were complaining about Detroit 14.0L egr with power loss and fuel. I had a problem on my uncle's 05 Columbia with that engine won't start and doesn't get fuel. took it to the freightliner shop in Williamsport and turned out having a fuel leak on the fuel lines. New fuel pump replaced, new lines, and new fuel water separator.

Its all the emissions crap that is causing most power loss issues. Remove it, and you have yourself a reliable strong engine.

I always think if I get those egr detroits, put and egr delete.
