For loading the belly yes I would say just one position. Those manual ramps have 3 positions all in all though. You can have them flat where they are lower than the wheel well over the tandems #2 makes them level with the wheel wells for loading the belly and #3 actually stands them up high enough to clear a car on the shot gun deck (#9) and also can load the #4 position with them stood all the way up. The guys load Honda Civics on that position with them raised all the way up and don't drag the bumpers on those.

After looking at that picture again that LBZ posted I don't think those will move up and down and looks as though the flipper on the front of that bottom rear position looks to be the only thing you can do anything with. Not for sure but I will look tomorrow when I am at Carleton cuz I think there is several of them normally parked there that is if they aren't covered in snow! BLAH!
KANSAS TRANSIT, LBZ and Hammer166 Thank this. -
Ok these 2 pics are from a ez-5307. If you look at the hinge that is attached you can see where the track can be raised up. The other picture shows the handle that you grab to raise said track up. If you look closely right behind the handle you will see a black round rod. That is the rod that holds the track in the up position once you have lifted it up. Either of those flips that are on that deck can be strapped to provided you have weight on them so that they don't lift up. The front flip is metal track doubled up which is in my opinion strong than the 3/16 aluminum that we strap to now that is not designed to be done with. Hope this helps out some. Oh and yes as you can see there was snow flying around up there UGH!

Thanks much for checking that out. From what I can gather, there are no 5307xl's left anywhere new. Dealers are waiting for March production so they can have 2015 model year trailers to sell. Was at Manheim in Mt Juliet today, saw one of the cx5308's. They are entirely a different beast.

Thats a sign you should get a 5308. Just because its an 8 car doesnt mean you have to put 8 on it if you dont want to.
-
Just a heads up, they WILL also make a CX 5307 basically the same as the 08 but without the second lift over fifth wheel, would work well if you hauled more suv's/trucks than cars.
The big reason I looked at it was it is somewhat lighter, if you looked at that CX 5308 you can see why that rep. told me they are the most production consuming trailer they build. -
Hey Stan. Cotrell also made a limited run of a trailer named a C-5307. It was a 5309 without the position on the 5th wheel and the slider position over the wheel box. 21,000 lbs but could fit one hell of a seven car load
KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
It would be nice if Cottrell would update their website, half of the models on there are no longer built and half of the new ones are missing!.Hammer166 Thanks this. -
Agreed! There is only one dealer that truly knows his stuff, but is also interested in obviously selling you something. So you call the factory & they tell you to call a dealer.
On the flip side, the Miller guy at the factory is great with info. Yet they have a dealer who has not returned my call from last Thursday.
As far as the CX series 7 vs 8, there is only 3 or 4 grand difference, so thinking the 8 would have much better resale. Just lock out the over the fifth wheel spot to remove a few lbs for the average buyer. I know you had specific things to meet K.T., just saying this in general.
Also noticed there are 2 different 5308's, both nex gen CX's. One loads the fifth wheel spot from the top deck while the other the floor lifts up to it.
Not sure all the details, but curious why the differential.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
