The company I'm with now I get $16/hr but I have to work 65hrs a week to make enough money. Which means I usually work 6 days a week (when the work is available) in order to get that 65/hrs a week. And I don't get any overtime pay all straight time.

I have been working for jb 2 years now and like the guy said earlier on this post he works 14 hours 5 days a week, so do I or get close to it. i work monda thru Friday and the biggest I've seen in a week was 1400 but I work my ### off on a daily. So far good company to work for great benefits and the money is good and plenty of work flow. I'm only basing this out of the city I run out of.

New hire pay starts at 34 cents per mile not 38 cents per mile. I was hired in October 2012 and worked out of the harrisburg terminal as well. Just starting out at 34 cents per mile under current drop and hook, live load, equipment move, and hourly pay without working 6 days a week you will generally make a little over 55k a year. After you max out mileage pay which is 42 cents I believe than yeah you are making 60-65k a year. You aren't going to make that generally in your first year unless you work a 6 day every single week out of the year or a a 14 hour day every day in your five day work week at the Harrisburg terminal though. Also let's be honest we did get 3 raises last year as well. D&H pay was $21 last year and live load/unload was $41. Hourly pay was only $15 at the time as well. So how much we made last year is not going to be as much as we are going to make in this coming year consider how many drop and hooks, live loads, detention & break down, etc. as we get.

True. Starting pay is 34 cents. I was mistaken I started at 38 because I had 2 years in when I switched from DCS to intermodal. And yes you're unlikely to make much more than 50k in your first year. But once you've been there a couple years, breaking 60k is very doable if you hustle and work a 6th day once in a while. If you know Ben W he broke 60k last year and didn't work a 6th day all year long. Two years ago one of the local guys only making 36 cents/mi hit 75k.
Sure it's not the norm but hitting 50k your first year and 60k within a few years is very attainable and I'd say that's better than at a lot of other companies right now.

Good money, if you want to eat, drink, live, and sleep nothing but the truck. You can not have any type of personal life or meaningful sleep/rest with those hours. For some people that is fine, and at one time I did it, but not now. Some things are more important than work, one being my health.

I make 50k+ doing local intermodal and I don't eat, drink, live and sleep the truck. I rarely work more than 12 hours and only Monday through Friday.

I left j.b in Nov., this past summer in haslet they hired 75+ new drivers. Went from running 5-7 a night down to 2-4. Was great while I worked there. Now I work for Exel Logistics Ford/Chrysler sector. I shuttle 6 hours a night then deliver to 8 dealerships. I work 10-11 hrs a day. Same route, same pay every week my first yr here will be 60k. Buddy from jb said all last week he went home by midnight. Glad I aint there any more. Like I said in initial review its a great company local side. But when they wanna keep hiring an hiring for some unknown reason it takes food off of my families table, an is unacceptable. I have nothing horrible to say about em. Just on to better things, they were great an allowed me to get local experience to get a better job.
