Because it's used most frequently in the other way. Either name-calling, insults, etc.

My husband isn't a newb to driving. He's got 10 years under his belt, so this we know. But, I'll tell ya one thing about Gray's...years ago my husband was stuck working for Schnieder and even THAT was far better than Gray's! Thank you to those of you here who are supportive, and have been offering advice. I do have an update on how things are going...

He got a call back from both Roehl and Conway. He just needs a few months of 'recent' experience under his belt (which he gets) so he's looking at some small outfits near us now to go that route I guess. Then again, some small outfits out there can be awesome places to work for too, so who knows, he may end up sticking with one of them. At any rate, he's not a lazy guy, nor is he new to being on the road. I guess you might call him a 'Green Horn' just because his experience isn't recent, but that's about it. He's literally done most of it, from local, to dedicated, to long haul..drop&hook and full unloads...reefers, tankers...you name it, he's done it. With the exception of Hazmat, flatbeds and tarping. He full on gets it, and the lifestyle, which trucking is more about than anything. I get it too. Our kids are teens now, so its not mandatory that he's home weekly, though we do sure miss him when he's gone. (Hums '18 Wheeler...Roll On...')

He's also never been a person to abandon ANYTHING, nor walk from a job. He's an old school 'if ya got a job, you're lucky, count your blessings' kinda guy. This experience with Gray's actually HURT him and led to his breakdown. He HAD to walk away. I watched his demeanor and ego drop overnight. Not something I would want another family to go through, so I posted what happened here. My hopes are that maybe, someone who was thinking about going to work for Gray's will see this, and whether they believe it or not, will at least start looking into them and reading the countless other horror stories that involve this particular company. If what happened to us can somehow save another family the pain and headache we've gone through, then I will feel I've done something good.

I'm surprised ROEHL said he needs more experience. They are a training company, they could have put him with a trainer for a few weeks to evaluate his skills.

dmaass, this is a rough business and a lot of good people get burned.most times drivers that have been off for a year or more have to take a refresher course.that will get your husband back in the saddle on better terms.hang in there, dont give up and good things will come your way.

Thank you so much for your kind words. An update: as of right now, he is talking with 3 companies, all of whom found him here so they know about him and what's going on. He's in the process of picking one and should be back on the road by next week. :)

It's nice to see these trucking companies begging for drivers, maybe some of them will change their tune or find another industry.... It's that simple
