I got a load assignment this am from Dakota City, NE to Keasby, NJ that was ready and loaded on a trailer. Then they voided that one before I could pull out of my parking spot and gave me a 2 drop load from Storm Lake, IA to San Antonio, tx with a stop in Bryan. Not ready yet. DLD was 04:19 this morning. So here I sit, waiting for a call that the load is ready. Glad I have some trail mix....

I hate when one hand doesn't talk to the other at Stevens. QC'd a message for $29 for a washout. Well, I get a message back saying blah blah blah $20.00. Well this ain't no charity so I shot a msg to my DM sayin "Hey! Is this $9 bucks coming outta my pocket?" Their genius response? "We can send you a T Chek." Hope everyone's having a good night lol

One of the problems on the inside in reading QC's is only the message is posted. It sits in a long line of messages as they come in from the system. So often a driver will send a request that refers to another message he/she sent earlier and we have no other way to tell what's being asked than to go to that truck and start reading their messages to understand. Here's an example:
I told Johnny all about this. Where is my check?
We have no idea what's being asked. What check? What for? How much?
So we go back and find a serious of messages (5 hours earlier) where they discuss the cost to restack a load and it being approved.
Normally, we'll skip these requests at first so we can get the swaps completed, the lumper fees sent out and the quick answers. Then we return. Depending on traffic, it could be 10 minutes or more.
Or, we'll send a response up front:
How much and what's it for?
5-10 minutes later comes the reply (after 30 other messages from someone else). But wait! There are often 2, 3, or 4 people reading and responding to QC messages! Even tho you reply to the one I sent out, it automatically goes to your DM. No one knows you are responding to me.
So what I'm saying, is try and be as complete on your QC messages (especially nights and weekends) as you can. That original message could have said,
$60 to restack a couple pallets that fell over. Johnny already approved it.
With that, the check is probably going to be on it's way immediately.
I know it can be frustrating, but just like you're not sure who is going to answer the phone, be aware it works the same way with QC's.
BTW, one more thing. If you ask for money, say money for anti gel...and no one responds, so you call in.. "I need that money. Can you send it?"
Our likely response is, "How much and what for?"
Yes, we can go search out your messages and research your request. Yes, we can go search out the QC's, but it takes time. We just want to get you your money and keep you moving. We have to post the money to the right account. Anti gel goes to truck operating costs, but lumper fees are charged against the load, as an example. Just tell us and be patient, please.
