When it gets slow I think about OTR but I'm home every night so that thought goes away. Been thinking about getting newer hopper. Have lowside but thinking about about going 102X72...might need higher sides for DDG if I decide to haul some of that. Never run 102 wide, does it take more fuel to run those?

Wheathauler I pull a 43X102X78 around the yard. Can't help with the fuel but the increased drag is bound to hurt some. The farmers I used to work for had all 102 wides cuz they're so much easier to load when dealing with rough rice. Only time I really notice them is when pulling onto tight scales or dumps. The bosses put a new heater core in the old Mack. It really helped this week.

We always pulled 66" sides and we ran all 379s till he bought these 2 freightliners and we could never put on enough DDG to make them happy. You wanna have fun put bean meal in a hopper with no vibrators....

can't say that it does. my broker prefers a 102x78, but i've got a deal going on a 72, so that's going to work for me , at least for now.
i could usually get at least 50k in a 78... and it wasn't maxed full. but it does make it easier . DDG's can be the dog to unload if they are too warm when loaded and if it gets a long ride, it can set up pretty firm.
wheat- home every night is a good gig.

I like corn the best, Tyson is probably the best outfit to haul to with it as long as the dump doesn't break.

I have been pulling Wilson 41x96x66 ag hoppers and still have 3 but I just got a 43x96x72 to haul DDGs I hope it's big enought.the dealer said that all previous owner hauled could not find a 102 wide local and was not sure I wanted a 102 wide behind day cab.any one pulling a 43x96x72 with DDGs? Trailer does have low large doors and vibrators.

I could haul beans to Cargill, Wichita; but with no detention pay, uh ---- no. Other than that I've been haulin' corn to feedlots. Nothing glamorous.
