Car hauling customers

Pretty much. I've found most high end dealers are the worst. You're hot, tired, and sweaty from running loads all day, and you show up at the Porsche dealer and they don't even wanna give ya the time of day. I have ran into some real nice dealers though, they apologize for the delay because the car is in the back of the storage lot so they invite you to hang out in the customer lounge and have all the free soda, coffee, and snacks ya want. POV's are usually the nicest, they love it when you bring them their car in the same condition it was picked up (duh).

 

Too be honest, I find most car salesman arrogant and full of themselves, on the other hand the GM or sales manager is usually more accommodating.

Bottom line is the sales guy is putting his time in at the dealership for one thing and one thing only, selling a car. As most if not all get paid by commission, I guess he figures the time he is "wasting" talking to you is time he could be spending with a customer.

Just what I have seen.

 

That's why I like dealing with the same dealerships every week, I park the cars out back, go into the office, they sign off and hand me the check and I'm out of there. In all honesty though the nicest people to deal with are salvage car buyers, always friendly and ready to chat

 

Have you seen some of these people hauling cars, you wonder why we don't get respect?

1. Pulled into Manheim Atlanta to drop first thing in the morning. One truck had a guy sleeping on one of the cars, with it idling to keep him warm while the other guy slept in the truck. I've seen nice BMWs and such unloaded and the drivers have to see how fast they could race them around the lot with a cold engine.

2.I was at Mecum in Kissimmee, FL , watching some of these mouth breathers unload cars about made my head spin, watched one guy back off of a 4 car trailer, shove the exhaust of the car he was hauling under the rear axle. Another guy said the day before, a truck showed up, the guys couldn't speak English and DROPPED a car off of the ramps tearing it up, left the chain on another car they couldn't get started, the car rolled off till the chain ran out of slack.........


I saw a lot of nice cars today being basically treated like trash by a bunch of drivers who looked like they usually haul out of the IAA auctions. It was pretty sad........

Oh, let's not forget the haulers who's trucks haven't seen soap and water since they were new, 3 axle trailers with an axle taken off because they either tore it up or can't afford tires for it, yet still load it up like it's a 3 axle trailer and drivers who haven't showered since Bush was in office.

And then we wonder why we can't get any decent rates or respect?

 

I would not be concerned on the treatment given by a car salesman, they generally could care less about anything unless they can sell you a car. Most would sell their mother to close a deal.
That being said, If you pull up in front of a dealership looking professional, you generally get respect. I mean a clean truck, clean coveralls, MANNERS, etc. you get treated right. Unfortunately, the slobs with the filthy mouth in the showroom spoil it for all.

 

I figure most don't think your local so your not going to buy anything from them so your not worth there time. I just remember how they acted and figure that's there true self coming out.

I did mention that to a particularly bad dealer once. I told him I was a local and I'd be sure to pass this experience along. But I told him I'm sure he'd be ok. Why would anyone ask me about new cars or dealerships.

 

My aptitude of Trucking. I Own the truck, the trailer, and I would love to see You happy. I have 2 Lotus cars in two boxes for you Guys. My Boots are shined, My Levi's clean, my shirt clean, my truck clean, my beard to my chest. Silver from age. I always include Me last. I was clean also. I want to see them too. I was welcome like a lost child. Step Decks are great.

 

Yeah, local dealer that I HAVE PURCHASED a new vehicle from years ago has a new guy that is a complete ***. Tries to negotiate rates HE POSTED, wants other single units added that are out in the sticks or will cancel the one on the main route etc. Arrogant full of himself on the phone & hides in the back of the dealership when you walk in. Will not come out of his office. Granted, his sort is not the general rule of thumb, he is the exception. Boils my blood just the same though.
