I know what you mean by not giving them a 2nd look. I do not remember how I came across this thread but it caught my attention and not having a TV in the truck I read it in a few days. It was very informative and I keep on reading to see what goes on next.

It is funny how you never pay attention to certain carriers and then you read a thread and then you find yourself looking for the trucks.

As for running the West coast I have never ran that part of the country and people that I talk to says not to worry about it that it is more laid back than the Northeast.

I would much rather run west. More parking , more polite 4wheelers. Better food most of the time. The 55 mph speed limit in California is too slow imo. Expensive fines. East/northeast is much more unpleasant to me. Also , roads are not so tight like many places in the east. Easy to get around out west. Running west is so easy it gets boring. My truck isn't carb legal so I guess I won't be there for awhile. Whatever. Running the southeast and midwest will have to do, I suppose.

I'd go 40 MPH In Ca. to stay out of the NE I hate it up there, those places were not built for a truck that articulates in the middle! I'm glad I am out west and try to stay out this way, If i have to run east I'd rather Southeast over northeast any day. I'm running now with a ALL 48 Forced Dispatch company and I have to do it to get where I want to be. i was offered regional but my next venture doesn't take just regional do they?(JCT)

When are you going to be in Seattle? I am just making my way North through Texas to offload in Sumner. I got to sit around Laredo most of the day. The only good thing about that was having the truck and trailer washed.

Well, it's been a while. It's been a busy month and week. For the last 7 days I'm at 3963 miles. I'm currently at 11,600 miles for the month. And on track for at the minimum 13,900 month. I got a load to Tennessee then back home for home time. Are miles at JCT? That answers your questions. I meet drivers that say I'm not getting any miles or my paychecks suck. They buy expensive fuel. I fuel for profit not a paycheck. My last 50 fuel ups my average gallon is $3.70. I don't turn down loads. I came here hoping to make $750 a week. Man let me tell you. $900 is a bad week for me here.
I've been here 4.5 months and got my truck brand new. It currently has 55,700 an average of 12,350 miles a months since I started here. Oh and I didn't run the first day of the month. If I did it would've been a 14k month plus it's not a full month for me going home next weekend

Have you ever had a perfect day on the road? Yeah, me neither! But today was just almost perfect.

I slept in until about 6 am local time. I was at the San Onofre Rest Area on I-5, south of Los Angeles. It got down to about 50 degrees last night, and that, along with the fresh sea air and eucalyptus tree smell made for a restful sleep. My appointment was for 09:00 down by the Pilot east of San Diego. It was a pleasant drive since traffic was light and the trailer was empty. These last few loads have been heavy!

At the Pilot, I got my handy dandy leaf blower (really, if you pull any kind of trailer, you'll LOVE this tool!) out and "swept" out the trailer. My shipper was about a two mile drive away and I got there about 30 minutes early.

It was already nearly 70 degrees when I arrived! This load is mostly flour tortillas. There was a smell of enchiladas at the shipper which, at first, was enticing. After about 30 minutes though it started to get annoying. At any rate, it beat the smells at Tyson!

Loading was no muss, no fuss, and I scaled out at 75.5k. This is the lightest load that I've had in a couple of weeks, lol. Winding up the hills on the way to I-8, I couldn't help feeling happy. I have a great trailer for this trip, the weather is ridiculously perfect, and the miles match my hours available pretty well. Oddly enough, these tortillas are going to Tyson. They're ultimately bound for Costco, but somehow Tyson got involved. Ah well, I'll probably get a drop and hook there on Tuesday, and be headed back west.

I got into Gila Bend showing 2,025 miles for the week at 7.3 MPG. By the time the Qualcomm resets Tuesday, I'll have over 3,200 miles. Tomorrow will be back to the grim reality of winter, and wind, and mountains to climb. But today was almost perfect!

PS: If you're on I-40, look for me at the Santa Rosa, NM Loves tomorrow night. Truck L2502C. Of course, this plan is subject to change, but that is the goal.

Whew! It's good to see that you're doing so well! But like the cows on, "The Far Side" say, "You've got to remember to stop and eat the roses!"
