I have found my miles are so much less per hour on my 14 that would about break even verses running 650 per day. I don't get more mileage pay up there but do get hourly pay for traffic back ups at $15 per hour anywhere. You figure .10 per mile at 500 miles you are only talking an extra $50 if you can get 500 miles in 11 hours.

I am looking at some -5 actual lows where I plan to take my breaks on this out and back I head out on in a couple of hours. Heading to Holland Mi.

Yeah it's about a break even amount on a typical trip up here which is sure better than nothing and losing money. In sure someone somewhere got paid to do a study to arrive at that amount I doubt it was an arbitrary throwing of the dart at the board lol

still, couple trips a week up here it shows in the check. I can sure tell the weeks I don't do any northeast runs.

Diluting that windex with alcohol worked wonders. Didn't do much for my fingers or ears though even with the full hat and riding gloves on. Thankfully heading south after I deal with Paterson nj for a live load. Place looks impossibly tight on the sat map. Fun times lol

Can park at customer last few times I was there. Take the first entrance ( back side of building ) park along right side curb there are a few parking spots there. I had an early appointment they woke me up when they were coming in but I wouldn't count on them doing that.

Pull around building in morning and check in all the way down the building on the right by the first set if dock doors. Usually a pretty quick unload been there a few times.

If you just need a truckstop there's one on each side of the exit 14 I believe it is off 495. It's like 3-5 miles south of the exit for the cons. The one on the east side is pay to park $8 parking on right side of street little dump of a truckstop across the street. the other on the west side I haven't been to. Both about a 1/2 mile off the exit in either direction.

Thanks for all of the great information. I will be retiring from the Army in August after 23 years and looking forward to starting my next chapter in life. I will start my CDL training in July and will finish in early September. I'm in the last class offered on Fort Bragg conducted by Johnston Community College. I have narrowed it down to TMC, Schnider and EPES. So far it look like EPES has moved to number one on my list. I like the fact that I can be home almost every weekend and Greensboro is close to my house in Sanford. Hometime is very important to me. Thanks for the the great posts.

when did we start pulling food lion reefers? this something new or just something I missed along the way?

pulled into dunn yesterday and thought it was a little odd as I was waiting in line that I saw an o/o (not ours) coming out with a FL trailer......hadn't seen anything but their tractors pulling them......then went around and dropped my empty and pulled on around to drop the BOL in the box and there's one of our company guys hooked to a food lion trailer getting ready to pull out. something new?

also, outbound loads at greencastle now you don't pick up the bills at door 51. they built a new dispatch office all the way around the far side of the building by the fuel lane. check in at the small brown brick building there to get your bills. nothing in the load assignment/directions about it so I stood there at door 51 knocking like a dummy for 30 minutes till the yard dog came up and told me about the new dispatch location. sent in the updated instructions so hopefully they'll update the directions.

back into that cycle of not enough miles and too much time to get there.......and a third of them late before I get them or going to be late before I can get there. 1074 and 3.5 days to get there. 354 and 2 days to deliver. 589 and 2.5 days to get there. 184 and 36 hours to deliver. those are a few off the top of my head but there have been more than that. all firm appointments no windows. can't make any money that way. they're consistent if nothing else. every 4-5 months seems we do this dance for a few weeks and then it gets back on track.

another headache at RSI in Lincolnton this week. never have a good experience there. had a 0600-1500 pickup window on 350 going to Winchester. after sitting in charlotte with the clock running 2 1/2 hours and finally getting the load, head on over there and get there at 0900. check in only to find it it's a 1500 appointment. come back at 1500. ####. so there I sit, only live load of the day, watching 5 other company guys come in, drop, hook and go. I was livid. had they given me the correct information I could have sat in charlotte, gotten a split, then gone over and loaded and been in Winchester that night and made the early part of the drop window. no. I had to sit there all day, wait to get loaded, then ready to go with only 45 minutes left.

that's the way the whole week went. then got another 280 for my preplan Friday that didn't deliver until late in the day Monday. really? I usually keep myself pretty calm even when I'm not having a good day but that was one too many short trips with too much time on them in a row. was a little short and irritated with my dm when I came in Friday. registered my displeasure with being out 6 days and only having 1400 to show for it. gotta do better than that. a little more behind the scenes there but I'm not going into that unless someone makes it habit...I realize it's the slack time of the year but you gotta spread the love around a little and do a little better planning than giving us 2 days+ to run what you could do in a day.

only ran 9389 for January. that's the worst January I've had since I've been here actually the worst month I've had period.
