I think you missed the point: my post was not a detailed "Here, do this to get WIA funding" step-by-step explanation; it was just a post letting people know the funding is still available and easy to get if you put the work in to do so.

Besides, the details for obtaining WIA funding are going to be different in every state, so there's no real point in writing an essay on it in this thread. For instance, the organization that helped me get everything together where I am (NV) doesn't even exist where you are (NY).

Also, the entire process for obtaining WIA funding and other types of grants in Nevada has already been written up on this site. If anyone wants to run a search, they'll know what they have to do.... and likewise, if they're too lazy to use the search button or do their own research and need everything handed to them on a silver platter let's face it: they lack the motivation and drive to get their CDL or do anything worthwhile with it anyways.

I've been a carpenter in Las Vegas for the last 25 years & work has gotten so scarce that I had to find something else & trucking is it.
To any who feel the need to "bag" on me or anyone else who uses the WIA program, well, why don't you just go suck-start a shotgun. I'm in my mid 40's and have never quit anything in my life. The fact of the matter is the industry quit on me,as well as it did for many others especially in the construction industry.
I just got the "ball rolling" a couple weeks ago here in Kingman, Az. I had a meeting with my career counselor yesterday (01/23/14) who told me I would be going to school in Las Vegas, Nv. at American Institute of Trucking. She said the school was a little over a month long & that they would put me up in a hotel for the duration of the school. They are paying the total tuition as well.
I cannot speak for other states but here and in Nevada it starts through the unemployment office. I'm looking forward to just working steady. I've been researching the industry through various sources for at least 6 months now so I'm not totally clueless & have an idea on what to expect.

You didn't miss much, I had used an expletive to describe a careless electrician. The other two gents were in disagreement over the sharing of information.

It"s all good, i went to Dept. of Labor 2day, just to make sure i am on that list, and got conformation, and was told to stay on his back about it. Counselor said something about next class starting in Feb. gonna check on that, and as far as it blowing up here, well it was"t on me, as you well know i"m all about the sharing of info, Jez it"s what this site is all about, but he was"t, even had the you know what to P.M. me a nasty one. So yeah I'll say it in open forum after he did that i P.M.'d Mack E-6 and told him to check the thread, that this guy was out of control, i"m not getting bounced for some knuckle head. And Big.W.M. will attest to this, all he did was respond to me about something we have in common and used a curse not directed at anyone on the forum, he"s a good guy.:yes2557:If you read my post i thanked MACK E6, because he thanked me for letting him know what was going on...
