Hmmmm, interesting, so if I run a 100,000 miles in Cali. a year, all I have to do is put on a couple of more trucks and spread the mileage out over all of them?

See, that is what I thought also, but to tell you the truth, talking to CARB is a bit like talking to different DOT, it all depends on who you get and how their morning was.

I have asked that specific question and others in an email on their website, (because I wanted something, in writing, more than a phone call) it's going on the second week without a reply.

I have been asking one simple question for 13 months now. "Have YOU been cited by CARB for a non compliant truck"? My guess is NO.

"I know a guy who knows a guy who's cousin was cited"... LOL.

CARB has been issuing warnings since January 2013. They can not and do not fine anyone for having a non compliant truck. They do cite for failing an opacity test, they do cite for idling, etc... They DO NOT cite simply based on the year your engine was built. Someone prove me wrong.

They are citing the bigger fleets. Four or more trucks. They go and visit these people at their place of business. As far as enforcing the owner/operators, there has been no enforcement other than an opacity test so far

As long as you keep rollin and don't stop you'll be fine. They have no authority to pull you over, so just go from point A to point B and run under the cover of darkness.

Here is the rub about it that article, it is a cali based company and we know that they are lost in the regulatory mess of CARB but if this happened to an out of state truck, it would be real news.
