werner must really suck 3 of us quit last week as trainees no hours like they promised, you spend your time in motels, with very little money to survive on. trainers dont train you they drive you. my trainer wouldnt show me anything about electronic logs or even let me back in which im very capable of doing, at least i could keep the truck on the road , the trainer drove in all lanes and the shoulder most of the time , try sleeping on that note
    werner really sucks

You certainly WILL find alot of whining on the forums. It's a completely open and anonymous media.. Hence, you'll get all types. I echo the "one person doesn't mean the WHOLE company's bad" advice,

I can tell you from personal experience that while you WILL hear some favorable comments about Werner, it truly IS a horrible place to work. That does'nt mean it's the case for everyone. In Werner's case the GO/NOGO ratio of lovers/haters with this company speak volumes! if the ratio were 9 of 10 people hating it, chances are YOU will too.

With all the companies you research though, try to filter the nuggets of info from the rhetoric. Listen for the facts of WHY they feel the way they do, and a good dose of "horse sense" will make your decision that much more sure. GOOD LUCK, and drive safe!

I've been with Werner since I got out of school 6 yrs ago. They're all I know so I can't give you a comparison. They've been good to me and I've worked hard for them. If you choose them just remember: You must take advantage of all of your options while in training. If you don't know what your options are...then ask! Utilize your Student Driver Manager. Communicate any greivances with them immediately. Don't let trainer issues get bottled up. It will leave you feeling hopeless. SDM's are there to help you.

I'm not even a driver yet (in 2 weeks, though, I will at least be legal).

I will say that my contacts with Werner have left me with a mixed response. The fleet is new. Policy is "when a truck is 3 years old, it's sold".

They're drop and hook. No fingerprint loads

They have policies *I* don't like (doesn't matter which ones - it's my opinion)

When I toured the local terminal, they had 20 or so drivers in the lounge watching TV. ONE truck in the mechanic's bay. I don't know enough to make an educated response to that, but it seems to me to be bad planning to have that many drivers sitting around in one terminal.

Everybody was pleasant to everybody else that I saw.

They have better benefits than most companies I've looked at.

    They allow ride-alongs and pets.

They have electronic logging (via Qualcomm). If it's so darn good, why doesn't anybody else use it?

The recruiter was a pleasant and open young man who'd spent a couple years on the road. Much more ... believable than the recruiter from another, similarly sized company.

Myself, though.. it doesn't much matter what ANY of the Werner/JB Hunt/Schneider/Swift etc have to say. I am not interested. It seems to me that my best interests as a newbie would be served at a smaller company.

    hi,
as i am typing this email to you, my boyfriend is on a bus to allentown pa to start training with werner...over the last two weeks i have showed him every bad post i have read on here to try to disuade him from going but because none of the other companies he filled out apps with called him, he went full speed ahead with werner.

it is safe to say i am slightly worried about him, although he can take care of himself, but what i'd like to know is, what would make them send him home and/or what should he expect when he gets to werner being a newbie and all?

thanks in advance for your reply.

Soooo.... by the numbers then you would expect almost twice as many (okay 1.66) complaints against Schneider as Werner...... right?

I'm sorry, but I have done my research and there isn't anywhere online where you will find MORE complaints about Schneider than Werner..... :biggrin_25513:

Orange is my least favorite color in the world but I'd go flying around as the great pumpkin long before I would take a chance on the blue screw....:biggrin_25520:

Maybe some of you like to learn everything the hard way but I am one of those who appreciates the fact that technology allows us the opportunity to ........ learn from others' mistakes! :biggrin_25525:
