Landstar Board Question

I suppose the point of being a business owner is to have multiple trucks (and then some). Having just one truck is pointless. You can drive the texas oil fields and make 80K and be home every night if you are willing to put a cap on your compensation.

 

If you see the loads on the board, can you access the details? You'll get breakdown, or not. We don't usually take a load that says "all inclusive". I want to see an fsc. LS makes enough money off us, they don't get 35% of fuel, too.

I ask, when I call to book a load.

 

Just for fun, we recently had a load paying $2740.21 on LH. Fuel was $493.58. Our trailer made $217.63. Our revenue was $2261.85, before deductions. We don't get tolls, lumper fees, or anything else. We get deductions. Comdata fees, fuel, permits, insurance $-1466.88 Gross with trailer = $2479.48 - $1466.88= $1012.60

If we're gonna do the math, let's do it right.

 

You ever had a $7,000 repair, in Idaho? Trucks cost money. O/O's don't make that money, in two days. That guy was leaving out what we pay. The truck costs 50% of one's gross pay. You make $2800? The truck takes $1400, before taxes.

 

If your doing a good job managing your truck and have a decent truck, you can make 50 percent of the gross. I've seen so many O/O make less than company drivers because of repairs and sometimes they make less because of signing on with a lousy company. These guys that lease purchase a truck from company, almost always make less than the company drivers.

How many hours do work per week?
How much quality time do you have at home?
Running linehaul you will give up all holidays because you come in that morning of.
How many restrict weeks do your have?
Vacations are base on seniority,so where do you stand?
