ACT called me while I was sitting in W Memphis. . Shipper wants to know if you can load today instead of tomorrow? ..hmmm, let me think. .YES!
So I beat feet over to Nike. . Got loaded and headed to Plainfield IN.. did a d/h and headed north east at a high rate of speed!
I'm trying to stay ahead of the snow. . It's 38 degrees and raining but I'm at the shipper and backed into a door. . After loading, me and 12, 000lbs of insulation are heading to southern Georgia. .
The bad weather is coming across i80 traveling north east so hopefully I can skirt around it by heading slightly south east.
I have 2500 miles scanned and turned into payroll for the week. . If I can convince the receiver to take this load Monday I'll add another 892 miles to the total. . Not a bad week.
My mpg dropped to 7.4 by the time I got rid of that load in w Memphis. . But I'm gaining it back. . I'm currently at 7.8mpg
Stay safe stay warm.stormy379 Thanks this. -
Yo peanutbutr
tell us a little about the 8000 series lease. They briefly went over it during orientation but being that I'm a company driver and the other guy was doing the typical lease they didn't want to say much. I do realize it's based off of the miles that you run other than that I have no clue. thanks for any info -
I'm sure the Pilot and the Casino are doing great lol.

You couldn't get another truck in line at the pumps.

I got loaded in Defiance OH and headed south. .I only had 2 hours left on my 14. I hate driving at night, in the rain on narrow winding 2 lane roads, but I knew the snow was coming.
I got to highway 30 and had another hour I could drive but I had a rest area right in front of me. . Nothing I could do, an hour wasn't going to save me and I probably wouldn't find another place to park. . So I stopped. Went to bed in the rain, woke up in the snow. . About 4" of snow. .ugh.. highway 30 looked like crap but off I went. . Stopped at the Pilot just before hitting I75 to get a cup of coffee. . It was my free one! Good start.
I75 was wet with ice patches. .I drove 60 and let the super truckers have the left lane. .A US express truck blew by me doing at least 75mph. . The back of his trailer was sliding from the dotted line to the yellow line but he just stayed in it. .
I'm east of Atlanta in a rest area on I 20..50 miles from the receiver. . Listening to the superbowl, windows down and enjoying 68 degree weather.
Hopefully I can get this load kicked off tomorrow, problem is. . I'm bumping my 70.. have 9 hours available tomorrow and gain nothing tonight. .5 hours tomorrow night. .ugh
Be safe, probably be a lot of superbowl drunks out in a few hours. -
They did you a favor by not hiring you. I spent a year at that place as a company driver and was making 45 CPM when I left but I could no longer put up with such a bunch of arrogant people as works at ACT. Everyone from the guy who sweeps the floor at the Liberty office to everyone at the shop in KC is so much more knowledgeable than any truck driver could be. Just ask them if you don't believe me.
-
Not every company is a perfect/good fit for everyone. . Lord knows that ACT isn't the first or only company I've been at.
Every one of us is arrogant to an extent. . Yes, even you..and your statement proves it.. THEY ARE ARROGANT BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY KNOW EVERYTHING. . Is the same as saying. . They're wrong because I know everything.
I believe ACT employs techs, office personnel, managers, business leaders and drivers that excel in their field..If they didn't, i would worry everytime I started the truck. . Or got asked for my permit book or received a dispatch.
The drivers excelling keep me out of the scale houses. .I get a green light 99% of the time with my Pre-pass.. That's not accomplished with unsafe drivers. .
People that are good at what they do present an air of confidence. .I guess that confidence is sometimes perceived as arrogance.
I like having confident people around and supporting me.
I hope your doing well with the company you feel more comfortable with. . Stay safe driver.

A quick thanks to Jag and the other ACT drivers for a great thread, very informative, keep it coming.

Ok the 8000 series lease works like this. Instead of a fixed truck payment your truck payment is .25cpm. That means if you run 1000 miles your payment is 250 and if you run 3000 its 750. Plus about 150 in fixe insurance and other expenses. That means if you go home you don't get behind on payments. BUUUUUTTTT you are expected to run 29000 miles a quarter(2200 miles a week roughly). If you don't avg that for two quarters you will be charged back at .25cpm till you make up the avg of 29000. Now I don't think that's difficult to achieve and still have great home time. Just my opinion
Jaguar115, Drifter42 and johnn5272000 Thank this.
