Jimguy, you can put that concern behind you....it's a constant threat in most private fleets. Sometimes it's real, sometimes it's threatened by mgmt. to gain an edge. I personally lived with it for years and it's a nail biter. How do you possibly go sign up for a new pick up or a home or other long term obligation when the FM threatens this every quarter?
You just do......

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

IMHO, it's as simple as I can give you a notice and find another job too. This crap goes both ways. I've never felt I was hostage to any job. I have skills, others besides driving, if you want to pay for them okay. If you don't pay for them someone else will. I was looking for a job when I found this one.
The other thing is managing your payment to income ratio. Simply put it is living within your means.
I've worked many types of jobs. One thing that is crystal clear after 38 years in the job market is employees are the most expendable commodities that companies have today. I believe anyone who in this day and time feels secure in their job is most likely suffering from a false sense of security.

Agreed John, just a number, 10,000 just like you waiting at my gate, blah, blah blah. Heard it all.......
And I did it, suffered the stress for the family. Cash was far too good, bennies way too rich by comparison to any common carrier....... but I also got my fill too and was GLAD tender my resignation....on my terms.BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
Yep...and that is kind of where I am at right now. I make GREAT money/benefits at Linde, 5 day week/no weekends/holidays/pension...But, I am sick of the threats, sick of the micromanagement, sick of the "we can replace you blahblahblah"...I am at that "edge"...and I am not quite sure what to do...My boss is 30, I'm pushing 60 and know more in my fingertip about this business than he does in his whole body..The WHOLE company is like that, middle managers scared for their jobs, so micromanaging becomes their way of life because they are scared of being replaced..People say I would be crazy to leave with seniority etc..I don't know..it just seems not worth it anymore.

Bullet, would that be Linde division, former child of Union Carbide and became Praxair or German Linde Gas that bought BOC ?
( I worked for Linde Division at one time ) -
I thought UNION jobs were 'to die for'.....looks more like 'to die from'

The job market isn't what it was thirty years ago. It used to be realistic to find a company to retire from. Now employees are more like the trash that is taken out regularly.
chalupa Thanks this. -
Yes, that is the new Linde "Group"...Much worse than even BOC..

So did you get the Boeing job?
Chinatown Thanks this. -
