Pretty much how I felt too. Once the testing began, my natural instincts took over and everything was fine. At the time, I did not know that Tom, who did my pre trip/road test, was the safety manager. I felt totally relaxed with him during the whole process. Having the same name, Tom, never hurt either LOL!
Mike, even though it took a while to get called for an interview, the good thing is that the hiring process has been streamlined to make it much quicker than prior to September of last year. Not sure if it was mentioned, but the orientation always starts on the Monday at the beginning of a new pay period. This way you will have the week of orientation and the week with your mentor on your first check. In my case, orientation started on a Tuesday because there was only 3 in my class and were able to compress all the information into less time.
Sit back and relax. You know your record and background is good. The waiting may feel nerve-wracking, but it will go by quickly. Just stick to your daily routine and February 24th or March 10th will be here before you know it.![]()

thanks tom!! tom the safety manager told me at first in his office that I know you just drove all the way down from Missouri but if you screw up I will fail you . I thought oh hell LOL. but once we started talking on the way to the truck I started feeling a lot more comfortable. I could tell hes by the book but still seemed like an easy going guy if you do what your suppose to. I called my safety director today she told me to give them her fax number and have them fax direct to her. she said she would get it right back to them. I don't have anything on my record there so not much to fill out .loldrozzer69 Thanks this.

That was part of the 'game', to see if you could handle pressure Mike. You have to pass the pressure test cuz...um...let's see...oh yeah...so they know you'll be able to handle the pressure of this job...wait...what pressure? Oh hell I guess they just think it's fun to see you squirm. LOL. Seriously, you've just landed what is probably the easiest (and best paying at that) jobs in our industry. Now you get to pack to move...that'll be the hardest part of the whole thing (simply cuz moving just plain sucks LOL). Again, congrats.

Congratulations Mike sounds like you will enjoy this new job.
mruffin Thanks this. -
I just applied at the Spring Valley DC. Hope I get the call. Been at YRC Freight for nearly 10 years. Tired of the company threatening it's employees with BK or going out of business. I need more stability for my family.

Good Luck skinnytrucker, going out with my trainer today cant wait. I'm starting at Spring Valley also. The HR guy (Rob) is really a genuinely nice guy as with the GTM I think that stands for General Transportation Manager, Her name is Kelly. I was at Holland for 23 years still nervous, although the orientation is a bit lengthy I feel a lot better a bought my decision.
There looking for honesty, and they check it all. I hadn't done a full walk around inspection in a while, watched a bunch of free you tube videos on it very helpful. The safety guy Tim super nice also, not to say he wont fail you, just felt very comfortable with him, he was a Illinois state trooper for 22 years.
Good luck I read this when it posts so if you have any questions let me know, I know there looking for 2 drivers at least but one of the managers gave us totals and I think it was more like six. this is a great place to learn what to do and good luck! Bretdrozzer69 Thanks this.
