That is kind of a surprise because from what I have seen the hourly rates in the south are less then what they are in the ND fields especially because so many guys leave ND around November and don't go back until March because of the sub zero temps that are almost a constant in the winter.

Texas has no state income tax. If you work 6 days a week or don't run log books you can make $100,000 in the south, but I bet you won't have any type of a life. I am sure there are plenty of Crude haulers making $90,000 down south.

I work 4 on 2 off about 120-130 hours every two weeks hauling all types of oil field fluids along with service work, and made $83,500 with lots of benefits last year. 60 to 65 hours a week is really a joke though as you're just working your life away. Not my idea of a life.

Long hours and no days off is no life but consider only working like that for a few years. You'll be able to save up that money because you have no time to spend it. Get a business going afterward and you can kick back have a life and plenty of money to live on

owner ops that do that here make 400,000 a year gross. Work as a company driver for a year then buy a truck cash , run it for a year, find a good driver, pay them well, work summer then the driver works winter , after that buy more trucks, get more drivers and be set.

this of course is very simplified example but the general outline of my plan.

MBI takes lease ons and with the right drivers you could have a small fleet and make a very comfortable living

Do you work in NW OK or ND?

I use to live in WW and two of my kids were born in the Shattuck hospital.

My buddy who works at MBI has off 2 days a week(Thursday and Friday), works 60-70 hours a week, makes time and a half over 40 and double on holidays, we had talked about benefits and they sound pretty darn good, and he made just shy of 100K this year which is his second year and he lives about 10 minutes from there yard up in Hazen. I would guess he makes more then most of the guys down in TX. He was hauling Frac and now does water.

I came across this job wanted ad on the North Dakota craigslist a couple of days ago... seems that experienced truckers in the Bakken still have a lot of demands and being non-MBI is a recurring one I seem to be seeing a lot of.

A co-worker of mine got an offer from MBI last week to haul crude here in South Texas of $18. He kindly turned them down. This guy has over two years experience hauling crude, so yes, if you don't like the offer, counter. They are in business to make money, and so are we as drivers. A great thing about MBI is they offer free insurance I was told. Depending on the size of your family, that could be a substantial savings. They also are offering free housing here in South Texas. Although the $18 is kinda a kick in the shorts, the benefits may make up for it.

They are 3rd party in texas and have no work or direct contracts. Drivers are getting like 30 - 50 hours per week. Not the mbi culture of northerners. They all on siesta down there and proud of it
