Load out of California. 14 copper coils, 2 stops. First stop in rural Texas 2 hours from Ft. Worth, unloaded all 14 but powder coated one of them and loaded it back on my trailer and off I went through the Smokies to deliver in Bryson City, NC going up and down the twisties with a wopping 900 pounds on my trailer. Had so much fun I forgot how much the load paid.
I wish that was what OTR was about, cross country multi-stop hurry up and get in and get out type of thing. -
Where do I sign up to get the job burning weed?
Talk about a dream job.Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
I hauled a load of Bentonite from Casper, Wy to Madison, La. I got there and the guy asked if I wanted to take it somewhere else for him. He said that they had tried to cancel the order but there was a screw up some where along the way. I said sure, where do you want it taken? He said Wyoming. I negotiated the return trip price so I made almost twice s much per mile with no untarp and unload or load and tarp time. I leterally took the load to with in 90 mils of where I picked it up.

Picked up at Coors with the reefer pictured in my avatar. This was the week they hot shut down for leaving s valve open and polluting the river.
Gave the shipping clerk my home phone number (this was before cell phones) and asked him to call me once they were up and running and ready to load.
Got to spend my detention time at the house. Drove everybody crazy saying, "I'm getting paid to watch tv. I'm getting paid to sit here and eat."
Seems you need to take the good with the bad, and that was one of the good ones.
Best flatbed load? Picked up rail car running gear from a rail yard that was FULL of antique rail cars, passenger cars, and antique cabooses.
As was said above, it was so much fun I don't even remember what it paid.Last edited: Feb 3, 2014
DirkSteel and Working Class Patriot Thank this. -
I got a load from new orlands to Bangor. (1800 miles) It was pieces for a huge cat truck. I have the arm, and tracks. They only weighed 15,000ish pounds. It paid 7900 bucks. I also got stuck in hurricane Irene while passing through Philly (where I live) so i got a 4 day week-end while i waited out the hurricane on the best paying load i ever hauled.
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -

My bestest ever load(s) will happen in a few months when I'm going to haul a my new Corvette and a 67 Chevy Nova SS to
Talladega super speedway on my stepdeck, then drive around the track at triple digits. I'm also going to do the same haul to Daytona, palm beach raceway, and Sebring. Pics to come later obviously.
What kind of coil load did he deliver to the track? Curious to what type of project that was for. Driving in the turn 4 tunnel entrance is indeed cool -
Ok Ok, you win. Game is over guys !
