Proud to be a trucker

Hello everyone,
My name is Aaron I am the the Human resources manager for Mid Cities Motor Freight in St. Joseph, Mo. The reason I have decided to post on here is to tell my story. I have worked for Mid Cities for about two years....I know that's not a long time but, hear me out. Mid Cities is a smaller trucking that has about 35 company drivers and about 20 owner operators and they do primarily intermodal. Our local drivers stay in the Kansas City area and our Owner Ops stay within 300 miles of Kansas City. Ok so , I worked here for about year and my wife was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer which you can imagine was a shock to my family. Obviously, I didn't know what I was going to do because, I knew that with all of the time I was going to have to take off to assist help my wife through the many surgeries and chemo treatments I would eventually not have a place to work. We all know that companies will only tolerate so much before you are told your services are not needed. Well, much to my surprise Mid Cities stood by me and my family....I took off when I was needed and there was never an issue. I don't know if this is true or not but I heard through the grapevine that the owner stated that I was not to be written up and anytime that I needed it was to be given to me. The dispatchers were understanding and empathetic. It really took an tremendous amount of stress off of my shoulders. In addition, I think I was even paid for some of that time. I thought that maybe I was special or I did something to make them feel obligated to assist me and my family during our time of need but, what I have discovered now that I am in the office is that it wasn't just me....the owner and is family are just great people and the company actually works with several other people who have severe family issues that pop up. With that being said Mid Cities has certainly earned and deserves my loyalty. My wife is healthy and more beautiful than ever and we are Mid Cities for life!!!!
