I was under the impression that every state you travel through with a permitted load, you had to physically have the permit. I was a truck stop talking with a HH guy and he says some states allow you to receive it as an email and as long as you can show them you have it in your phone , permit # and are not off route, youre good to go.
Can anyone clear this up ?

I hope so. Printer ink is expensive.

North Dakota is a go on phone, tablet, etc. (as long as it can be legible on the device) since Jan 1 2014 all permits go though e-permit site, no more handwritten self issues.

I'm not sure about the permits but most states will allow you to have electronic copies of the provision sheets, I keep a file for all the states on my laptop and have been asked for provisions sheets and just bring up the files

    281ric Thanks this.

One more question. Do you guys order your permits before you get to a shipper, or once youre loaded and dims have been confirmed?

It depends on how reliable the shipper is and how long the state takes send the permit. There's nothing like ordering 13' wide permits and escorts and arriving to an 11' wide load. Blanket or annual permits can be worth it vin the states you frequent the most. I have a FL blanket and used to have a GA before they changed the rules.
