I crept around the corner from Tyson and found a nice spot to wait out my 90 minutes. The buzz was that the next storm was going to hit in the morning and dump 8-10 inches of snow and I wanted to get as far west as I could. The reefer unit was shining amber; another Alarm to clear. That's two different trailers with alarms on the same day. This problem was persistent. Low voltage and some other cryptic code that no amount of clearing was fixing. A call to breakdown had me backtracking to the Kansas City Thermoking and an after hours call-out.

While the tech sorted out the electrical issue, I worked in a 2 hour nap. When all was done, it was 2 am and I had all the hours I was going to get today. The radar showed the snow headed my way, so I turned to face it and headed for Dalhart, TX.

It was a good plan. . . at first. I ran into some random snow flakes around Emporia. I think they were on point trying to find me for the main surge! Pretty soon the road disappeared. I could feel the rumble strips, but I didn't see any pavement or markings for the last 100 miles or so. After Pratt, KS we were down to 35 mph and the ditches were filling up with CRST and Prime trucks. Hmm. . . I guess CR England doesn't drive on US-54! Just kidding, England! But seriously, Krusty, get your act together.

So I guess I'm done for the day. If you're battling through Greensburg, Kansas, stop by the Cenex. You'll probably have to chain up to leave! I'm in truck L2502C waiting on a St. Bernard to bring me some brandy.

I'm at the terminal, waiting to see if I get the deer guard or not (I'm negative in my maintenance escrow right now), after all of the other stuff. At least I was able to get my dot physical and recertification taken care of while I've been here. Stay safe out there brother.

In Plainfield, IN and about to get hammered with the snow. Thank you mr shipper for ensuring I have to drive through rush hour in the white mess. Even better my delivery in the morning is dead center of the ice band! Had a chat with dispatch. Not driving on ice when my choice of routes is Cincinnati or narrow curvy back roads. I e never put a truck in a ditch or had a preventable and not gonna happen right after I got accepted at jct!

Hope everyone is warm and safe. Got 2 questions. The modules online show a JCT driver filling out a paper log. Is that accurate or electronic logs. Also, been to NYC/N East and in no hurry to do it again. What % of loads go that way. Thanks.

    luvtotruck Thanks this.

If 10 percent goes to the northeast I would be surprised, maybe .5 percent to the NYC/jersey burbs area. And all of us are on elogs now.
