I have an '02 T-800 with a 62" aerocab sleeper. It has the sleeper extenders and I would like to remove them...how big of a PITA is it to do it? I'll assume you put the bolts/screws back in after you take them off. Another question....if you were putting pipes on, what size would you go with, 6 or 7"? If 6", would you go with the 6" elbows as well or just expand it after the elbows? Dumb ?'s, yea. Just looking for some input. Thanks.

Yes they just unbolt and you can put bolt in hole or fill in hole and paint and if you can get them go with 8 in and yes do it from the elbow up looks better and dont look to big

Get 6" with matching elbows. Any bigger looks ridiculous imo. Shop around no need in paying more than about $800 for elbows and pipes. My 7' tall 6" extended turnouts were only $400 for the pair. A buddy got 9' tall 6" and 90* 6" elbows for a 379 Pete for $780. Of course this was 5 years ago. Chinese chrome and in 5 years no chips, flaking chrome, nor rust - they clean up nicely. The same cannot be said for the american made elbows I replaced at $400 each the chrome was cracking, flaking, and rusty after one winter. No aftermarket options for my particular elbows at the time, probably not even now. I wish the originals hadn't been busted.

I see yours has the exhaust behind the cab, mine has dual pipes on the side of the cab...with the fancy pants s-curved elbows. I have snooped around and iowa80, Joplin, mo etc have 6" kits for around $1,500 that allegedly include everything.

Far at as the extenders go, I have no plans on repainting anything anytime soon, so I guess I will hope everything comes out with no issues.

    Thanks for the replies.

That's kind of steep wonder where their pipes are made? Yeah I figured your setup was beside the cab. Fleetpride is where we got the stacks, and him those elbows for cheap, plus the stainless exhaust band clamps. I did end up going to the chrome shop for other hardware though.

I didn't dig too hard, just snooping. Said it was everything - pipes, elbows, clamps, cab brackets, yada yada. I figure by the time I piecemeal it together and the several trips to wherever to get parts, it's probably the way to go. There is about a $1,000 difference to step up to 7" though.
