One of my classmates at trucking school said his dad works for Holland, makes $30/hour and over $1500 weekly. Does anyone know if there could be any truth to this, and if so, do they hire student drivers?

If you are referring to USF Holland, you start out at 75% of the pay scale. It takes roughly two years to reach full scale. City workers/drivers get around $23.00 an hour plus benefits.

LINEHAUL is paid 54 Cents a mile plus hourly when working the dock which is around 22.50 an hour plus benefits.

They have a minimum of three years or so many miles before hiring..YOU can check out the terminal nearest you for more info on this.

Holland pays around .56 cents per mile 22.25 an hr for casual driver help........ when you work 30 days as a casual.. then they hire you full time with a bid then you drop to 75% of wage for 1 full year from when you were hired full time, then you go to 80% for 6 mnths then 90% at another 6mnths till you get 2 yrs service to reach the max wage ...... a typical line haul driver makes close to an a few go over $100,000 per yr once you achive full time status ....(So I hear from a union rep) you drive a day cab an stay at a motel room payed by the company you return to your home terminal every saturday mouring with 2 days off an restart monday evening .........if you screw up one time within the 1st 30 days your done..........

City/dock workers get a letter of hire and a line haul drivers time starts with his first punch of a manifest. Things are pretty slow presently at Holland and in the industry in general. The few terminals taking on drivers are in the Chicago area and are listed on the company website. The rest of the terminals are only taking apps for 4hr casuals at this time with a few exceptions in the system. Good luck.

Yep. 30 day period for dock/city starts with letter of intent to hire and line haul 30 day period starts with first punch of manifest for dispatch. These are calendar days not worked days. I've seen drivers get layed off after a week or so and get their time in riding the couch at home, go figure.
