Ok so I have a 2007 Volvo 670 with a cummins isx. it's extremely cold here in Chicago negative 15 windchill I left it for two days and now it won't start. When I first tried to start the truck I did a half a turn and then stopped. Charged it for a while but It only seem to get weaker now it won't make any sound or action when I turn the key. I wonder if I killed the batteries or maybe burned a wire on the starter. Any similar experiences .Thanks everybody

well if it is weaker after charging then it isn't taking a charge
bad connections loose wire etc
how old are the batteries
they can freeze when in poor condition
windchill has no effect on the truck only the true temp
but yes still cold
all the winter tips need to be taken into consideration
good batteries
clean connections
full fuel tanks with antigel
saying it ran ok when I went home never workscabwrecker and dphillips Thank this. -
batteries are about 3 months old and I cleaned all the post screwed them back down pretty good not sure where this problem is coming from because even though I just bought those batteries this is the 3rd time I had to jump them but then again the weather has been horrendous

the bad batt. will kill good ones,if you can test them after disconnect, might be time to put new batt. in? ck. alt. voit.
dphillips Thanks this. -
four new ones i will have them tested in the morning

Need to warm those batteries up. It takes a long time to re- charge a cold battery. It could take a day to get it built up enough to crank., if dead.
I would remove batteries, take to a warm garage, allow to warm up, hook up charger, test and re-install only if fully charged. Might be time to buy new ones.
Find generator for block heater hook-up, if possible. -
She's a diesel, it's cold- what`dyou expect?
It's cold, diesel will turn solid, and no starter can truly change that.
You've got a few hundred pounds of iron and and hydrocarbons that ain't gonna start spinning, any time soon in this weather, bud.dphillips Thanks this. -
have you put a meter on the connections to see if you have a power drain when shut off?
even new batteries if run flat lose their electrolyte and will freezebaha Thanks this. -
I'm guessing one of your new batteries flew south for the winter, load check them one at a time, since one bad battery will ruin a whole set.
dphillips Thanks this. -
one bad cell will ruin the whole battery and batteries hooked together will drain to lowest cell strength
dphillips Thanks this.
