I came unglued on the phone today with a FM that's not mine. I'm having a pretty crappy week so far, 14 hour days for 200-300 miles. Then because I was in a rush to do a favor and get an empty to a customer before my 14 ran out I left my lock on a relay load in the Darlington drop yard.
While parking the empty I discovered that my lock wasn't there. So I sent a quick message. Then made a call and some condescending kid gets on the phone and can't seem to speak audibly and I had to ask him to speak up despite having the volume all the way up on my Blue Parrot. While I was talking to him I brushed up against the next trailer that had huge shards of sheet metal peeling off and tore half of the back of a good denim shirt. Then I was really hacked off.
I told mr. Snot Nose that I couldn't afford to buy a lock and that if I had to then maybe I should just quit. Then he starts to tell me how I should have remembered to take my lock off and I chewed him out and told him to leave the discipline to my regular FM.
So I hope I'm not in too much trouble, but that was really the icing on the cake. -
Oh, and I'm parked for the night at Loves in Fort Mills, SC.

that sucks Dennis..I was laying down on my catwalk today. face first, to "pinpoint" the 30psi per minute air leak on my secondary system. I could say more but I'm writing this on my phone. lol, I just have dirty clothes. my 1st student, who is doing fabulously left his lock on a Lowes drop. went back after his ten and it was already cut off and gone...yes just buying his own. my locks been freezing lately..imagine that..
DsquareD Thanks this. -
Squirt some WD-40 in it once or twice a week.
Just got off the phone with my FM and sounds like I'm not in trouble, but still need a lock.
It's good to have a place like this to vent. This has been a very unusual week. Twice I went to customers' to pick up and was told, no freight for you. Today I burned $100 of fuel and drove 3 hours to be told that. Then sit and wait for the planning monkeys to make a decision. In the mean time the 14 hour clock doesn't stop and who actually rests when you're waiting for a decision that might happen in 15 minutes or maybe 3 hours? -
How did you find out your total miles? 120K means it's paid off.
-
That's happened to me a couple times. Yea it's brutal. I'll never understand why it takes 3 or 4 hrs to fix some of these problems. Oh and hope it doesn't happen over lunch hour or add an hour on to that.DsquareD Thanks this.

Pretty much I've found out that much of what is said in anger they actually understand. Quite a bit is forgiven, though probably not forgotten.DsquareD Thanks this.
