I have a rare ddec 4 14l. I have done a barometric pressure fix to the egr system that fools the ecm into boost mode. I have only had this since may. I have owned the truck since 08. I am right now on my third set of injectors in the last 250k because oil samples show fuel in oil.
-
Wow third set of injectors...I still have the original '04 injectors on mine except for number 5 i replaced last week.
-
They have all been under warranty but i dont know if anyone really knows why they have failed.
-
Other than fuel in oil, did the engine miss or stumble? Low power?
-
No hard starts no miss but it doesn't seem to have much for power. But I am very easy on the petal so its hard to really say.
-
Does it seem to perform good after its been sitting for a while then start to lose a little power after you start driving it a little while? If so, the fuel temp. sensor could help
-
Plug in the block heater and see if there's a change. Most Detroits I hear start anytime sound like a rod is coming out and it's even worse when they're cold. They keep running so it's just something you get used to I guess.
Richter Thanks this. -
The air temperature sensor was changed but no change. I have not tried an oil pressure sensor. Didn't think that would affect the engine like that.
one guy that I talked to said that he has seen engines start doing this after an overhaul and it is something to do with wrong cam for engine and it only happens after an overhaul. Not sure about that.
The truck runs fine after warm up just this looks bad and I would like to fix it.

Its not really that normal as mine does not do any of those symptoms in a cold start. The only difference is the idle is higher which is normal
