Is lunch off duty?

    Is lunch off duty and does it take time out of my 14 hours?

    Off duty ........ Might as well burn a 30 minute break with it too.
    Or i should say maybe make sure you use 30 minutes off duty --and that takes care of the 30 minute break rule while your at it.

    Everything takes time out of your 14 hours…and all this is pretty basic….

    If you're talking Canadian rules, lunch is off-duty. It does not take anything out of your 14, but it does count on your 16 (workshift). When you do take a break, make sure it is at least 30 minutes so it can be used as part of the 2 hours, non-consecutive, part of your daily 10-hour rest period.

    If you're talking American rules, lunch might be off-duty. It does take away from your 14. You should time it so that it qualifies for the mandatory 30-minute break on or before 8 hours of on-duty.

    Finally the right answer. I wish the Americans would sometimes look which forum there posting in before they steer someone wrong....
