Is lunch off duty?

Off duty ........ Might as well burn a 30 minute break with it too.
Or i should say maybe make sure you use 30 minutes off duty --and that takes care of the 30 minute break rule while your at it. -

Everything takes time out of your 14 hours and all this is pretty basic .

If you're talking Canadian rules, lunch is off-duty. It does not take anything out of your 14, but it does count on your 16 (workshift). When you do take a break, make sure it is at least 30 minutes so it can be used as part of the 2 hours, non-consecutive, part of your daily 10-hour rest period.

If you're talking American rules, lunch might be off-duty. It does take away from your 14. You should time it so that it qualifies for the mandatory 30-minute break on or before 8 hours of on-duty.
