Central Refrigerated Truck Stop II

If you want to be technical we are "CRTS Division of Swift." I'm just going with central.

I'll take your minds off all the bad news to share a funny story about that:

Pull into the WVC terminal and they need to do some work on the truck overnight, so they invite me to sleep in the dorms. No thanks, I'll just pull the curtains shut and hibernate in the sleeper.

I thought I heard my reefer kicking on, and ignored it as usual (sleepy enough that I forgot I was bobtail and inside the shop).

Well, I wake up and while I'm still half asleep I open the curtains to look outside and notice I'm in a Burger King parking lot! How did I get here?! I don't remember parking at a Burger King. For a moment I panic, thinking I forgot to set the brakes and rolled here from the truck stop.

I jump out of my truck and start wandering around, trying to figure out what happened and snap out of the fog of sleep. Then a mechanic comes over, carrying a Burger King bag. Now, it makes sense. The mechanic took my truck out for a road test and stopped at Burger King for lunch. He didn't know I was in the sleeper.

"This is my truck." I tell him.
"No, it's not" He says
"Yes it is. This is my truck."
"No, it's not." He points to the logo on the cab. "This is a Central Truck."
"I know. It's MY Central truck."

It took me a minute to realize that I had just woken up, was unshaven, and messy hair. The mechanic must have thought I was a crazy homeless person trying to get the truck. Luckily, I remembered to pull my fuel card out of my wallet to prove who I was!

Good times...

 

Did he share his burgers & fries ?

 

OMG!! I am CRYING from laughing so hard! Hahahahahaaaaa!

 

"Duplicate DVIR please try again..." Nah, I'm good. Nite QC until tomorrow.

I don't say stuff like "OMG" but OMG!!! Maintenance was fun today! I called. Hey, I've got a marker light out. Oh, where are you... In KS US 400 mm136. Ok, go to cherryvale and they'll get you fixed up. Where's that? About 34 miles away. Ok... I pull over and of course, it's in the other direction.

I call back. The lady that answers says a road crew is on the way. I say, "For a MARKER light?!" She says yes, they've been dispatched. Put out your triangles... Umm, I'm driving down a 2 lane road in the snow. That's against the safety procedures. Driving in snow? No, talking on the phone while driving we can't talk to you while you're driving. (I am pulling over now). Ok, so you can't cancel the road call for a marker light on the trailer? No driver you didn't explain yourself and now you have to wait. It was 5 minutes ago. It was ten. Put out your triangles I can't talk to you while you're driving. I'm pulled over now! Well you didn't explain yourself so you just need to wait for the road crew...

<breathe> then call road crew. They are waitin for me at the shop. Go outside and gathers triangles back up. Call swift back. "We don't handle Central trailers. Your OTRM is still taking care of your trailers..." Ok, so can you cancel that order and I'll call the shop bck and let them know I'm not coming down there? Yes? Awesome. Thanks!!

 

I hope the person from swift you talk to had her/his helmet on and drool cup available because I'm pretty sure they rode the short bus to school.

 

There is about 35 swift trailers at crsro. And they don't show signs of stopping. Sucks. Crsro was so roomy.

 

I hate to think what the state of our trailers is going to be like if swift is making it even harder to fix things.

 

I have found one thing positive about all this. My frustration level can only reach a certain point and then I just have to laugh. I've had a few laughs.

 

I noticed something similar: I don't care. I have no OTD bonus to defend and if they want to fire me I'm not too bothered. It does make this whole thing less stressful.
