Ive have not heard a whole lot on this company and would like to hear from current drivers. Not interested in driving for them but interested in what others have to say.

not a driver for them but spoke with one on a dock for a bit recently...he had been there for 4 1/2 years....very happy fellow..said he leaves out on monday morn, home every friday, mostly before dark, and weekly check is dead on $1300+ after taxes every single week....good benefits...no b/s, very steady freight, never slow, good lanes, and not much sit and wait at the docks as cowan will drop runs rather than waste hours waiting to be loaded/unloaded...if ever i decide to be a company driver it would be one of the first apps i filled out...hope this helps...
darthanubis, zoekatya, Night Prowler and 2 others Thank this. -
I no longer work for Cowan, but I was a driver there and got promoted into management before I left. Not a bad company to drive for, but safety department is a real pain. 65 MPH trucks, home regularly and the pay and benefits are decent. Plan on running legal HOS..electronic logs. Better than average trucking job IMO. Hope this helps.
darthanubis, zoekatya, ritchie lee and 1 other person Thank this. -
Im a current driver for them. Im a day cab driver on a account they took over.

darthanubis and The Challenger Thank this.

We got taken over by them. So my opinion is in that regard. They are all about weight our day cabs spec at 11k and the sleepers at 13k. They trucks are governed at 63mph, its electronic logs. They also use a lane departure warning system if you get 15 lane departures in 5 mins the safety man will be calling also if ur within 1 sec following distance the man will also call. As for management my terminal is like a monkey screwing a football. I asked for vacation to see my kids who are 500 miles away, they rejected it so I went anyway well they called me on Saturday to fire me just to call me back begging me to come back monday I refused so they gave me a raise to come back. I do groceries stores but when freight is light they will run you on one of there other accounts. YOU will be close to GVW alot. There coke loads for Instance are 49k. As for 401k they dont match and there insurance is high. They have a lease purchase program you get a brand new truck. Also for you otr guys there changing the fleet to peterbilt so there is alot of new trucks.
darthanubis, double yellow, zoekatya and 2 others Thank this. -
Well... scratch that one off my list...
Thanks for the info though. .
Best of luck to youskinnytrucker Thanks this. -
Don't scratch them just yet, tow614. Like I said in an earlier post, I no longer work there (and I left there with some pretty hard feelings towards them.) I was management when I left...terminal manager at a satellite terminal in Tennessee assigned to their dedicated Sun Products operation. My opinion is, it is a good company to drive for (just stay out of management.) I still have a close friend that is an OTR driver there. No job is perfect, but when I was driving there the pay was good, the trucks were legal, and the home time was consistent (weekly.) OTR paid .39 CPM with paid detention ($15 per hour) for over two hours. You might want to reconsider driving for them, but as I said stay out of management!!
darthanubis and Pasquale Thank this. -
I saw a lot of new Pete 579's at Peterbilt in west valley city utah getting ready for the road. Sure are a good looking truck. Always kind of interested in driving for them as well
