I will change cam sensor asap, it definetaly seems electrical the way it cuts in and out so fast. Also will check wiring. When the truck is getting to this age I dont have a problem blowing money on a few sensors etc even if it doesnt fix the problem, still a lot cheaper then having cat diagnose haha.

Regarding the soggy paper you found. I found the same thing in my primary filter, truck lost some power and my restriction gage went way up. I my case the paper looked like filter material, my guess is that somewhere I bought fuel the filter on the pump was coming apart.Chevyho Thanks this.

Is there a procedure to change cam sensor or just unscrew old and screw in new? Engine is a 1LW

The new style cam sensor for your 1lw is a upgraded one from cat and looks a lot different then your original one. If this is the one you got it is just as simple as taking old one out and putting new one in. Replace the oring on the sensor too. Just put it in snug. Don't torque on it. Very simple.

Original one will have one shim....the new style requires two.

Forgot one thing. There is a shim under your original sensor , don't use that on your new one. Just screw it in with new oring and your done. !

Ive always just discarded the shim, never had a problem. The shims on the original one to preset the gap , don't need to do that on new one.Chevyho Thanks this.

Cam sensor that was in there was a 127-1008.. From what I can find that isnt even the right sensor for a 1LW??

When Cat changed the sensor they call for two shims to set the gap. The cam sensor is a proximity sensor in which the gap changes when it reads. Leaving the shims out will change the timing read by the ecm.
Makes no difference to me how you do it. Just stating what Cat recommends.Chevyho Thanks this.
