Boyd Brothers repeatedly ripped me off for various charges throughout my employment with them!!! Pissed and quit! One of my paychecks was -$84.00. How does that happen?? Would sit for a week at a time with no contact from dispatch after repeated attempts at contacting her!! No dispatch, no pay! Rhonda was my dispatch and she needs to be FIRED!!!!! Would never respond to my inquires, she would def not respond on weekends, went to the Alabama terminal and saw why! She was out smoking every 15 minutes! This company has single handendly damaged my credit score, got me behind on bills, and nearly cost me my marriage! Returned them their truck which didnt have heat and computer was broken! DO NOT get trapped or caught up with their lies! THEY WILL COST YOU EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rhonda, Karma is a creepy lesson!
Boyd Brothers!

Did you possibly try to get the attention of someone higher up? Did you inquire to the shop about getting those things fixed? Maybe they didn't receive your receipts and bills on some loads you did there for giving you the negative balance? Just guessing here.
-
Sounds to me like you should've asked for a new dispatcher. The only time my bf has had a negative check was when he went overboard in the company store. Yes they have left loads off his check but always rectify the situation the following week. Plus now that he's sending his trips in from his phone instead of just hoping they get there in time his checks have straightened out. Also anytime my bf has an issue he talks to either Ron or Gwen and gets it straightened out quickly.
I'm sorry it didn't work out there for you but good luck to you wherever you go next. -
Hate that you had a bad experience with Boyd Brothers. However, during your orientation you were given instructions on how to handle problems that might arise between you and you DM. It sounds as if you did not follow the instructions given to you to solve a problem. The "only" time a DM will not have contact with a driver is if he/she is on vacation, time off for personal/ family business, etc. Boyd is in the business of moving freight, not letting a tractor sit and not bring in revenue. So, when you say that you had no load for a week and could not contact Rhonda for a week, I just have strange feelings about that.
As far as the weekend contact goes, did you not read the messages that went out on Friday and Saturday? The messages stating who is working weekend dispatch? Even on Sunday, Betty Jo comes in to run dispatch and check on drivers to make sure that they will make it to their deliveries on Monday.
as far as a low paycheck....how many times did you get advances? Did you not listen to the part in orientation when you were told that there would be $400.00 escrow built up in your name, and that it would come out weekly from your check, but once the $400.00 amount was reached, that it would stop? What about the hard hat, vest, tote full of extra light and fuses and pull bar, those items are not free, you paid for them.
But, lets get back to the communication aspect you brought up. During orientation you are told to communicate everything, whether you over slept, a road closure that will cause you to be late, a shipper/receiver that is being slow, a flat tire, etc. Why then, would you not call another DM through the main number, or Milton Williams, the terminal manager, to express the problem you were having in getting in touch with you DM? Any DM or night dispatch can help a driver, once they get your truck number, they have all of the information on you and your load, and then they can help.
I know that this post seems like it is being hard on you, but, it sounds like we are getting the whole story.
Trucking is hard, flat bedding is even harder, especially during the first year. You had a chance to work for one of the better companies in trucking, I hope that things will work out for you in the future.
Good luck.Drivers girl and dwalto Thank this. -
And why would a company driver pay for the hard hat, vest, tote full of extra light and fuses and pull bar?suicidejockey22001, Truckinchic, jamesgang and 3 others Thank this. -
the 400 is just a security depositeu get it all back as long as they get everything back. yes you did pay for hard hat and safty vest but u did not pay for that light tote. I have had issues with dispatch from time to time but it is all easly resoved just have to call some one else. everyone be ware this is just a pissed off ex driver and the compamy is actualy pretty good. there are some issues but wereis there not.
Arkansas Frost and ladr Thank this. -

So Boyd drivers have to loan Boyd Bros $400 each "in case" you damage equipment, or have an accident?
How many drivers do they employ? Times $400 is a chunk of change in the bank that isn't theirs.
Also, I know there are trucking companies that do this. My first company did. But, it is a misuse of the word escrow. These accounts do not even meet the dictionary let alone legal definition of escrow. IMO, it is just loaning the company your money.tahokid, bigblue19, ladr and 1 other person Thank this.
