Hello all. Tomorrow I start orientation with Swift in Lewiston, ID. I completed their driving academy on the 24th. I cannot wait. I have worked in retail management for the last 13 years and was in desperate need of a change. I love to drive and I love to travel. The hard part will being away from my wife and 3 girls. It will take a little adjustment but I know in the long run it will work out. I Have been home for a week and think the wife is ready for me to be gone again. will post as things move along and would appreciate and value any advice. Thanks.

Good luck. I worked in retail and public service before starting OTR last year. I started orientation with Swift today at the Greer SC terminal. Hope all goes well for you.

I finished orientation on Thursday and went out with a mentor on Friday evening. The roads were icy and covered with snow. So it was a little trial by fire but I did good. I have to do 240btw hours with a mentor before I clear to solo. The first 50 is me driving with him in the passenger seat the team after that. Drove 3 hours Friday and then 4 more Saturday, The mentor had to do a reset so he dropped me at home. He is a Wal mart dedicated and only runs the Northwest, so at least the roads will be familiar and I'll get plenty of backing experience and winter driving. Head out tomorrow to and get back on the road.
