This is the part that I miss the most:

Back when Comchecks and Comdata were very first coming out, we would find ourselves in places that never heard of them. It was VERY commonplace for me to call OTRM and say, "I'm already at a tire repair shop, but they don't take comchecks. I really want to get moving again, so I'll put the $30 on my own credit card and you can reimburse me."

One obvious reason: I'd rather keep moving than search out a shop that takes Comchecks.
Second hidden reason: I earn frequent flier miles on my credit card, and that helps out a little bit.

I'm not sure I'd be as trusting to do that anymore.

Darn. Times USED to be so good...

I hear ya! I was just talking to a driver who had to pay for a lumper out of pocket because his comdata card is "locked." I found myself wishing him luck on getting reimbursed. What a sad state of affairs.

Just looked at my 8 day recap. The morning we switched from Central to Swift, I had been running on recap hrs for 2 weeks. Not a problem anymore. I don't have a single day in the last 8 days with more than 7 hrs on duty. Who's hauling all the mac & cheese these days? I hope Swift isn't relying on this thread as a recruiting tool.

Any l/o's who weren't aware, you can have your governer turned up to 68 now. Just thought I'd share an island of positive in the sea of negative.

That freight would have rotted in the trailer had I been that driver.

Having the ABILITY to go 68 doesn't mean being REQUIRED to go 68. I just want it so when the ---- you're trying to pass kicks it up to 65 once you're next to him you can lay the hammer down and not play snail race.

Well I was able to get reefer fuel at a non stop. Also was able to get a scale without requesting an advance. Just swiped my Comdata card. So that was surprising.

Ok they have just done about all I'm going to take from Swift. They change my pay rate w/o saying one word to me. I was going to go back out but this move has changed my mind. I'll be going to my truck to clean it out and leave the keys in it. From the look of CRSCO I'm not the only one when I got out my truck Friday the yard was full.
