Tough trip, Turbojet! Speaking from the trucking side, chaining up a Freightliner has to be easier than chaining a CRJ-700!

In theory most of our freight is western but we do run 48. In my 7 years here, I have had whole years never east of the Mississippi except for the trip to Florida to visit family.

You have my number, I have been known to talk more than a few through an easy step by step process of chaining. Or catch me somewhere relatively warm and I will do it with you if you are unfamiliar with the process.

Is it completely possible to stay west of MIssouri and still make money?

Thanks for the condolences, everyone, I appreciate it very much. I'm sure things will improve with my next trip out- should be spring by then, right?

Thanks for the offer, Terry, I might just take you up on it.

Oh yes, Sharpp, it was tough chaining up those CRJ-700's; you wouldn't believe what it took to get my First Officers to lay there under the landing gear with the darn things, waiting for me to bring the thrust up enough to roll them onto the tires... lol!

Sharpp, luvtotruck and Jarhed1964 Thank this.

I would've loved to have seen that! Especially with a butter bar right out of OCS.

I had the pleasure to serve under a few officers that started out enlisted.

We are a 48 state carrier and as such you will find life much more simple and profitable to be willing to run 48. You are not likely to be invited here if you state up front that you don't go east of missiouri and will make few friends in dispatch or planning if you get here and then "Refuse" to go into any certain region.

Interesting. I had load that was supposed to go to Hermiston last week, but when I got to our yard in Boise, the station manager swapped me for a relay going to Union City, CA. She said I would "be saved" from having to chain over Cabbage.

What she failed to tell me was that I was not saved from having to chain - twice - over Donner Pass!

    Turbojet Thanks this.

It's MUCH easier if you learn the Fly-By Aviation Chaining Technique. It is challenging and requires a skilled hand at the controls and willing F/O. Or unwilling.

    Turbojet Thanks this.
