I sent an application to Covenant Transport. Do you think Werner might be a better choice? I would like to find a good Werner trainer and schedule my training in advance but don't know anyone, so far. Do you have any idea that might help?

I forgot to say, I spoke with two Werner trainers today and got conflicting info. Can you tell me, TruckerGrl, if power inverters are allowed? I am vegetarian and will need to have my cooler and some cooking appliance in the truck. Are you going to drive solo after training?

    Doesn't anybody listen anymore?

How many horror stories do people need to keep them from Werner, J.B. Hunt and Swift?

    Good Lord people.

You will not "be different", and yes it can be "that bad".

Of course Werner drivers are happy to talk to you, they probably get a referral.

Look, Chief is a truck driver with 2 year experience. So, I guess he is joking... I guess he knows very well these co's reputation. As I do to. But my reason for applying to Werner and Covenant are a long story. Otherwise, I would go with Schneider, or something better.

use your own judgment rocks, as far as power inverters are concerned. most of the major companies dont allow them (as far as what my last mentor said) but what they dont see wont hurt them.(this is what i was told). if your truck goes in for maintenance "hide it".

I know Covenant doesn't make that a big issue. As long as I buy everything, they will install it. My thing with Covenant is that they don't pay well. My friend started with them last December. After training, she got a check of five hundred something (for the first week), then a check of three hundred something (for the second week). I guess Werner would pay a little more than that...

If you're lucky you'll get a decent Truck when you're finished training. Werner right now is extending training by an additional 50 + hours.

One trainee I met spent something like 88 days on his trainers truck and not due to driving errors.

In the month that I was with my trainer I only earned approx. 79 hours of drive time (again not due to driving errors).

When I confronted my SDM about this (in a nice way) she brushed me off.

There's a lot more to the story of course, but let's just say that my experience wasn't that great.

I have spoken to many other drivers that are quite content with what Werner offers, but have also been told to get my hours in and RUN hard and fast afterwards.

I think that if you have enough money in the bank to support you and yours for 2-3 months if not more at $250 - $275 a week , than it could be an alright thing I guess.

I am just giving you my opinion and partially stating my experience with Werner.

Of course only you can make the decision. Just do your research and ask a lot of questions.

Like I said earlier. I read ALL the post on Werner, I did the research and still chose not to listen to my wife or any of these people and I learned the hard way.

Like I had said before my experience with Werner is limited. I am still in training so I have not had any bad experience with them yet, I know I may run into problems here and there. I have heard of many people who have had problems with Werner. Personally sofar I am happy with the company, (and to Ronnocomot's post about Referals, Yes there is a bonus after the new person recruits a driver and they stay 6+ months) I am not a recruiter I dont know nearly enouph about the company to refer someone let alone my own experience with them. Only reason I say that they been fair to me is because sofar they have been, and both of my trainers that been with Werner for quite some time are happy with them. (and as trainers I know they aint getting nothing for talking a student into staying)

So all in all I guess it is up to you, sofar my experience has been plesent but I only been with them 2 months......so who knows it could get bad.
