i know that having several jobs to choose from when you are almost done with CDL school isnt the worst thing in the world..but its stressing me out. I have pre-hires from us xpress, werner, swift, and USA truck...but also TMC, Falcon, and Maverick(i like the idea of learning how to flatbed..pays better..and its a skill)...i know that all of these companies have their good points and bad points..but i am looking to make good money..be home at least every other weekend...and not deal with BS..like bad trainers, running illegal, low miles..###### trucks..etc..does anyone have a good, safe bet? any advice on these companies in particular would be greatly appreciated...

Don't think for a moment that being a "pre-hire" means you have the job. Even going to orientation doesn't mean you have been hired. But you take all the big truck load companies and put them into a paper bag, shake it up and they all come out the same. They all will BS you, they all will lie to you, they all will look at you as a number not a person. They don't care about your personal life or family. Basically all they want out of you is "production" without questioning on your part. The dispatchers or fleet managers as they like to be called now, they are just voices on the phone or someone who sends you a Qualcom message to do this or that. They never call to say, 'how are you doing" or "how are things going", they don't care. Trucking is a tough business and very impersonal. You state that you are getting a little "stressed", you haven't seen "stress" yet. You better get your "armour" out because you are going to need it.

You did not state where you live or where you call home. But if I was you, I would be checking out the small carriers that might be close by. Even driving for a small carrier and a smaller check, you might come out ahead on the bottom line. If you can, get on with a LTL company.
