I just checked the regs. doesn't say ANYTHING about sheets, white or otherwise. it says "bedclothing and blankets." I had NO idea that a matress wore clothes. I think a sleeping bag would be OK.

The REGS did up until sometime in the 1970s specify sheets be white, so the DOT could tell if the driver had been sleeping in them. That reg was removed.

I have some white Cannon percale sheets in the closet from the 60s that are still in the plastic. and they WON'T be opened any time soon, I can assure you. that's CANNON sheets - ask for them by name. oh wait, you can't, they went bankrupt and out of business 4 years ago. even though they were the largest textile producer on the planet at one time. thanks a LOT, #### for brains W#l M##t shoppers.

Is the word "adequate" open to interpretation, or, is it defined?

Adequate to me might be an old sleeping bag, while others might not feel adequate is acheived unless they are wrapped in a silk cocoon covered in an antique hand sewn quilt, and laying their head on a feather pillow adorned with a doily.

As far as white sheets, there is nothing in federal law stating what color sheets you may have.Go to regulation 393.76,sleeper berths,at the FMCSA website. You do have to have proper bedding though.Proper mattress and some form of sheeting and blankets. Also don't forget that you have to have proper restraints for the person in the sleeper, seatbelt or mesh,if you run as a team.Another question I saw was do you have a right against unreasonable search.Answer,NO.Federal guidelines differ from state guidelines.Unlike a personal means of transportation, your car,Cmv's may be entered and inspected at anytime. This includes the cab and trailer interior.Rule 396.9 spells this out,but it's vague.Local and state law enforcement can enter your cab to do a safety inspection to see if items are secured, flares or triangles are there and fire extinguisher are OK.And yes, even bedding. For all the years I have been driving I have never had a problem with law enforcement checking out my cab.The worst was when they found a copy of Playboy Magazine. How the heck did that get in there?

Adequate mean it is up to the inspecting LEO or DOT, if you disagree with the decision then you hire an attorney.
