Well o think I got out of it. I got as far as south of Savannah before I ran out of time.
HometimeQueen Thanks this. -
I know others have covered this, but I've never seen a board that updated the thread without refreshing the page. I've been on many boards, close to 20,000 posts on the unofficial Houston Texans board, various Astros boards...etc...etc. But I've always been updated by simply refreshing the page. A little less "work" than jumping off, then jumping back on a thread.

Fwiw, I'm still here! I'm just the strong, silent type...lol. Seriously, there are very few posts where I can help or add to the conversation since I'm still a "ghost of TransAm Future...lol." I am reading, though. Now I'm on an epic-long Swift thread.
Folks here in Austin complaining about the ice. Thing is, we've only had two days that were really a problem. In Austin, of course, very little ice on the road can create major problems. The second time it iced the roads enough for black ice and whatnot and Austin was woefully unprepared. Kids got stuck at school or on the bus and parents raised Lucifer's Place over it to the school board. The next potential ice day all the schools closed down so fast in response to the angry parents from the last ice day, the kids got a day off and there was nary a drop of freezing precip.
Personally, I love the cold weather. But that's because at the moment I'm always here where it's mid-twenties at worst and rarely that. Not where the folks on this thread have to go and drive through in a daily basis in temperatures I've never even experienced.
Oh well. Just letting you guys know I'm still around. I hope you all have a safe day.Last edited: Feb 12, 2014
passport220 and HometimeQueen Thank this. -
In realiaty Pete I am really likeing Werner. Maybe it because I not pulling refer any more. Side note. My last load wanted to leave quick so they just thru all the stuff as far forward it would go. So now I have a 44k load that is all on the nose of the trailer. I knew I was in trouble when I pulled away from the dock and saw that there was still 15 feet of empty trailer. Well I slid tandems all the way forward and I scaled 33990 on my drives. Just hoping I don't get caught for bridge law.
passport220 Thanks this. -
no part of the bridge law states your too short
this company we run them all the way forward all the time going to CA
I guess there is something about overhang but legal on the tandems is first priority
if your happy is all that counts -
I'm glad you're still reading Road_Kill. The more you know the better prepared that you will be. Do you have a family? That will also be a consideration in choosing someone to work for.
I am glad to see some conversation finally! I hope that everyone is out of the path of this storm. The number of people without power when I first got online was about 74,000, it has now grown to 244,000.Road_Kill Thanks this. -
sunny bright and clear in Kearny Ne
counter intuitive isn't it -
Sunny here in southern Missouri. It is supposed to warm up into the 50's this week! The east coast is a mess, I feel for all of them. The ice storm several years ago that hit Oklahoma and Missouri left us without power for 15 days. After we lost power all you could hear was the ice shattering like glass and trees and power poles coming down. I worked for a non-profit organization at the time, you don't realize what goes through the minds of some of the little kids when they hear that. Poor little guys thought that the trees were trying to kill them, many of them were afraid to sleep at night. Even the adults were affected by it, the first time the power went out after living through the ice storm I could not tell you the number of adults that called crying and hysterical because they couldn't stand the thought of going through that again.
