I run a daycare (company). Trust me get at least a small sleeper. There will be times you may need it. Sleeping on the steering wheel isn't much fun.

road runner is great if you can figure some things out. tobyt has it down and it is pretty much the only way to pull great money in. stay away from terminal unless it is coming off home time or friday unless you can have the terminal absolutely have a load a not get up the next day to find out, not enough freight and now you are sitting. I leave midwest tueday afternoon get to west coast friday morning sleep and get my saturday load to northeast and broker my own load from the northeast back to midwest. it has been working wonderfully. this is my 2 weeks and I usually have 3-4 days at home. sometimes I will float a bit when I find light hazmat loads with brokers that pay well and go wherever. one thing for sure is you need to run long. no 400 700 mile loads from road runner for me. always 1700-3200. stay away from commerce ca terminal. the people in the office and are absolute trash. stay away from their back haul clown mike d. get load boards and call brokers. if you have a refeer it will get torn up from what I have seen. good luck

Absolutely right, I load in certain terminals going to certain places and I always make then aware that my trailer is a reefer and if anything is broke, bent, scratched or torn, your freight will not get delivered until my trailer is repaired! Running long is the only way to make it with that terminal stuff, anything short has to be delivered next day or it's a waste of time and your losing money.

Good luck fred, I see your smart. Ontario has the best freight when coming out of Cali, usually loaded light and pays well. Be safe.

road runner should hire you for their OTR ambassador!lol you could be doing the recruiting while driving and do much better and can actually answer the questions presented to you. thanks. happy trails hey, if its not a problem check out my post under the o/o or broker pay. I have my averages in there and it would be great to see someone from the same place with a refeer average pay and the areas. I remember in one of your posts you said something like you always made over $2.00 per mile or something!? thank you

Well Tobytob you were wondering how this studio is doing for mileage here it is for last week. Mira loma to Houston doing 70 all the way from the Arizona border and 38000 pounds I got 6.1. On the way back I set cruise at 64 and got 7.0 with 31000#. View attachment 61937

Roadrunner must have improved since I spent 6 months there starving in 2009. I ran out of Milwaukee and after 6 months being there weekly not a soul acted as if they had ever seen me before.

I was gone from there for a year and got a nasty e mail from them saying that they couldn't collect on a brokered load I had hauled and they were gonna deduct it from my settlement. Knuckleheads!

That's another thing. I would go to a loadboard looking for freight and find a load from a broker with a 100% credit score and 9 out of 10 times they would refuse to approve it based on credit. Knuckleheads.

I ran Milwaukee - Miami mostly. Tried running the system but that was worse. Came there from a reefer company in Tampa - Benco. Horrible company. We all used to race to the bank to get our checks cashed because their account would run dry by the time half the checks were cashed. I'm now back doing what I like and pays - heavy haul.

Can someone tell me form experience, i.e. they have a tractor on with or has recently left Roadrunner what kind of experience they had and what kind of monthly gross they were getting.

I run 3000+ miles a week pulling bulk cement and am looking for something a little more year around. Maybe something where every load doesn't mean placing the truck on a scale to max it out either.

I have been approved at Roadrunner, Panther and have an app in with Landstar. Landstar might take a while from all indications but might be worth the wait if the other two are half as bad as I am hearing word of mouth.

Not looking to hear my buddies next door neighbor stories. Just real numbers with decent facts please.

    Thanks.
