Hey everyone! I'm looking for a new company to get on with. I am 23 with 2 years and change of OTR experience and a total close to 5 years in trucking altogether.

I am hoping for somewhere that pulls reefer as I have reefer experience and for some insane reason I enjoy pulling them haha. I do have and I will take dry van as well but lets shoot for reefer if we can. Other than my age and experience, whats killing me is I have a black lab as my rider and I am NOT willing to sacrifice him to go to a company; even if that means taking a pay drop. If you let me get really picky, I would also like to train student drivers. I do not want to lease a truck but if I will be training I will give it a thought or two. I would like somewhere who will give me close to 3000 miles per week solo or at least 5000 if I am training. As I said above, I have a dog, a black lab, and he is not small (around 40 lbs) and if the company does not allow pets or at least have a pet policy, then they can stick it. Id like to have a day one rider policy if they have it and I would like the equipment to be fairly nice and not be breaking down all the time. I would prefer none of the idle control crap and if they do have anti-idle measures/policies then I would insist on them having an APU. Of course, like most drivers out there, paper logs and an ungoverned truck would be FANTASTIC but I am a realist and in this day and age both of them are rapidly becoming a thing of the past.

Now for the not as picky part: I could honestly care less about home-time. I'm the type who prefers to stay out for a month or more at a time and then go home for 4-6 days afterwards. I also wouldn't mind it if their freight lanes would bring me through the house every now and then. I live on I-20 in Longview, TX and it seems like I never get THROUGH the house on a load. I will run all 48 states with the exception of NYC and preferably not California too terribly often but if the pay is decent then I can get over Cali. I have NO problem with crossing the Rockies and would actually prefer to be kept running back and forth between home and the NW. I am a hard runner (when I need to I will run my full clock out (11 hours exactly is my record... on e-logs...)) I keep the door closed and still have the original american mentality of customer service above all else with the exception of safety, of course.

I am fast approaching 250,000 accident/violation/equipment violation free miles. No preventable or non preventable, no D.O.T., I am completely clean. Well, I did get an overweight warning in Utah for being 500 lbs over with APU and a warning for out of truck route here in TX about five miles from home... my own #### fault. I've also never had any DUI, DWI, Possession, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Possession of Controlled Substance / Marijuana, or any of the other bad stuff. Also no felonies and one class C misdemeanor from when I was 17 (class c, fine paid, record sealed now).

If anybody has any suggestions please feel free to post here or PM me. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

PS: At the moment, one of the most outstanding companies I have in mind is Furniture Row Express out of Denver, CO / New Albany, MS. Everything there sounds too good to be true but the drivers are backing it up! The only thing is I wouldn't be able to train there ( I don't think.) I just found out that they don't allow pets either. Somebody higher up there is coming back from vacation on Monday and I am supposed to talk to him and see if he will make an exception and if he is still leery of the whole thing I may even go as far as to offer him a $500 cash up front pet deposit or even a $.01/mi pay drop for having a pet. I think the later will be the more tempting of the two as that is over $1000 per year for as long as I work there. This place meets all of my requirements and yes, I know that is a lot. I feel like I would be happy working there so I am hoping that it will work out. If not, I will need suggestions for other places though! I don't want to be out of the truck for very long!

Well unfortunately, I do not meet the minimum requirements for J.S. Helwig. Their minimum age is 25 years old. I have heard they were a half-way decent joint to drive for though.

I went to the Rains and Sons website as well but there is not much information there. All thats there is how many trucks they have, what kind of trucks, motors, etc, and a phone number. Ill definitely ring their bell and check them out.

    Thanks for the info!!
