Maybe in the morning I'll take a look at it and see if tin foil would work. I heard someone on here say to do that too. I just didn't know you could get the thing apart to do that. Might definately be worth a try though.

Good way to get fired or have a lease canceled and thrown out on the street by modifying or disabling safety equipment. (if you get caught)

If its not working properly then you get the company to fix it.

If you put something in front of the radar, it will throw a code for "radar blocked or misaligned", then your cruise will not work. The only way to disable it from the truck is to unplug the radar, unplug the monitor on the dash, and change the paramater in the ECM (cummins) or the MCM (detroit) to no adaptive cruise control. You will need engine software for that

If you disable it and youre a company driver, and you happen to get in a wreck, you could be liable for some very big fines. I had a customer throw the display out of the window, and when I installed a new one, his belongings were no longer in the the truck, if you know what I mean

Get them to fix it. They are not bothersome when they work right and you drive safely. As far as disabling it, do you realize that it's not your truck? If I owned a truck, anyone tampering with anything that they're not supposed to (especially safety equipment) would be instantly terminated. I think it's time to find a job that you can live with or buy your own truck so you can do what ever you want with it.

If you can't, or don't want to go into business for yourself, then you need to respect other peoples equipment that makes your living. If you can't, man up and find a job that you can live with, you have no right tampering with equipment that you don't own.

They are very bothersome when working correctly, as most car drivers cant drive and you end up hearing it screech non stop as long as youre in traffic. in the option on mine the volume is off completely. when working properly its dangerous, as it bypasses the abs and will lock up the drives,(I have the flat spots to prove it) but not work at all on the front breaks or trailer breaks. (It does this by activating the park break as to not turn off the cruise) this is jack knife material! ! Mine when calibrated correctly will jake break down hills, up hills and constantly in traffic. Rams on the breaks for no reason, when going under a bridge, rounding corners, with signs, guard rails, and freak out if there is a car in the other lane when im rounding a corner as it "sees" the car in the other lane. This causes the driver to turn off the cruise, thus mitigating the entire system...... even if you use it, and it doesn't drive you insane, its still dangerous as the driver will become complacent and rely on it, and thats when it lets you down. One other thing, if there is an obstacle in your lane that isnt moving, it will register that as "nill" and ignore it and allow you to crash into it. Had it not been for me paying attention I would have creamed a caddy that lost a wheel and stopped in the right lane. onguard didn't even register it was there!! Mine has recently stopped working im guessing because of the snow? But anyway now no cruise control. If I restart the truck it will work for a few minutes then turn red. Cruise is a big deal at my company, it's tracked and if you go faster than a preset speed you get nailed for over speed. Which is a termination event if your overspeed is at too high of a percent. ive told them, but still can't get them to fix it. Im seriously thinking about going owner op just to get away from this nutty and dangerous setup!

65 mph = 95 fps. In other words, 100-200 feet of following distance is only 1-2 seconds. What is your following distance SUPPOSED to be? Back off...you are following too close.

You just described a system that is NOT working properly. When calibrated correctly, it cannot not see objects that are not moving, so it will allow you to hit a stopped car. How is that any less safe than you hitting a car without it? It can only sense objects traveling at different speeds. A stopped car is traveling at the same speed as the road, zero, so it cannot tell the difference between it and the road. Same goes for bridges, etc. If it's sensing bridges or guard rails, it's not working right. If it's locking brakes up, something is wrong.

I've driven with them quite a bit and they are only annoying when you follow too close or are not working correctly. They are quite passive when you drive safe. It sounds to me like your issue are due to untrained techs trying to fix them.

Just found this thread. I find it amazing that discussions can be had about disabling safety equipment but we can't even mention emissions!! Wow

I want to see pics of the flat spots on the drives caused by the locking up of the brakes!

I think tinkering with emissions equipment is illegal whereas safety equipment such as OnGuard isn't.
