Picked up a relay at the mother ship last night to go home. Of course 44K and NO SCALE slip. I scale at the yard and it's 80250. Awesome. Planners said take to shipper and have them pull a pallet off. Luckily it was right in town and they took care of me right away. Got home 2 hours later because of a lazy driver. I'll never understand why people leave heavy relays for other drivers and refuse to scale it.

Annoys me too. However, sometimes it happens where you weren't planning to relay and then someone in the office changes their mind.

In your case though, there was an easily accessible FREE scale right there in the yard. So no excuse! It should have been scaled and if near 80k had notes about truck type and fuel level.

Yep, was loaded and dropped there yesterday, so if scaled would have realized right away it was over and could of reworked. I'll bet the driver scaled it, saw was over and bailed not wanting to deal with it. Just pisses me off.

Only 250 over if other driver was under half tanks could have been legal. You never know

Maybe, but drives were 650 over, and steers 140 over, so they would have had to been fairly empty. Either way should of been scaled and noted what fuel level was..

Yeah should of noted his fuel level. But could of been legal. I know I have dropped a few that were close. But I always noted my fuel level with the relay.

Ussally though if I am that close on weight I argue to keep it so someone else doesn't have to deal with it. Just not to long ago like novemberish I ran a load that was 2 k over gross. It was fun creating my own route to avoid scales in 3 states.

Surprised your FM was on board with that. My FM thought about letting me run it as there were no WS on my route or the rest of the way to the cons, but decided against it and checked with the planners, and that was only 250 over.
