And how was it that you were abused by companies? Maybe it was you who didn't like the way things were operating and decided to leave and are now making the "trucking companies" out to be the ones who are terrible.

True ... no matter how bad a company may seem to be, driving a truck these days is all about yourself, your attitude and how you work. Weather your a company driver or an owner/operator, you determine how well you do in this industry, no one else does.

Thats funny you say that, because I belive that and I aint having a problem.

If you can't make money in logging right now, then go do something else there is obivioulsy not enough demand for wood right now. I was watching about loggers and dirt haulers the other day that since the Housing market has gone to crap there isn't the loads there were last year.

First I would like to say that I was a company driver, then I was the driver that never miss days unless I had to, also I was the driver that when payday came around the person that signs the checks left on vacation, I was the driver that when I return from a long rud and had been out two weeks all of a sudden there was another run that need to be done, according to dispatch I had to take it because no one else was avaliable BS.

Sometimes reading these treads you guys sound more like doctors knowing always what's wrong with somebody else.:biggrin_25513:

The real answer is to have a truck slowdown. Everyone run 50 MPM for two weeks. Even guys who don't want to be part of it will be forced to slow down because of the traffic. Two weeks of loads delivering late and cars stuck in traffic jams will catch the attention of both the press and the government. Company drivers can participate and blame the delays on the truck slowdown. We need congress to mandate a minimum frieght rate and to create a fuel surcharge program that must be clearly shown on all paperwork and must under penality of law be paid or company paying for the fuel. This surcharge needs to be based on practical miles for the load, not a percentage of frieght bill.
