Out of curiosity, if you block the freeway because you have no traction and they haven't put up the chains required advisory is that still a $1000 fine? A couple days ago headed eastbound two trucks were stopped on that last steep rise just before the Eisenhower tunnel chaining up. One was parked in the right lane and 100 yards farther the other was straddling both lanes. I managed to keep momentum by running a slalom, passing the second one by straddling the right shoulder.

Maybe it's just me, but passing a truck (or anything actually) using the right shoulder is not what I would find in any safety or common sense book on my shelf!

    NavigatorWife and Hammer166 Thank this.

Neither is he....Lake Elsinore....and since I was just down there delivering to Winco, Temecula and had one of those Elsinorinians durn near take off my front passenger fender since he decided he had to be in front of big truck as he was coming down the ramp on the I-15....I'm just assuming that is one of the driving tactics of folks from that region! I was completely expecting his next action of brake checking the 78k big rig with his mightier than thou Dodge 4x4, so I just eased over into the next lane watching him almost tail end a little beetle that was brake checking him since he had his high beams on!!!!

Comedy can be found in the strangest places, only thing missing was a CHP watching the whole thing play out......IF ONLY!!!!:biggrin_2559:

Some CDOT folks are in hot water with the public over comments in the media exactly making this point, should be interesting
