Cobra Radio

Look around and find a 29 or 148 that was made in the Philippines or Malaysia. With luck it won't have been hacked beyond recognition. Those were the good ones.

If you don't mind limiting yourself to 23 channels keep an eye out for a vintage 29 that was made in Japan.

 

If it's a China made Cobra, yeah they're probably junk....

However the Phillipine Cobras are good.....

 

I think Uniden which makes Cobra brand doesn't pay for the production and post production QC checks because they are trying to keep the costs down so they don't screw up in the market.

 

Uniden hasn't built Cobra radios for years they started sliding downhill when Ranger started to build them for Cobra. Last I knew Maxon was manufacturing them ... who knows who builds them now .....

 

The last I heard uniden was doing the engineering for Cobra and did manufacturing for them on some models. This was 2012. But I may be mistaken about it all because it doesn't matter - the CB hasn't really evolved like other radio equipment.
