My Name is Nils and i am a 27yr Old and a German citizen. Im going to work on a farm in saskatchewan this spring and also going to Get my cdl Drivers license. I tried to gather a little bit of Info about this whole experiene thing and read a Lot that trucking on Farms Not neccessarily Counts as driving experience. Is that true?
Anyways, my question is, if you guys think any company would hire me even with less experience?
My employer in sk will Hire me under the LMO Visa process. Would any Company be able to do the same while i am in canada? And when should i apply?
I hope i wont bother anyone with those questions. thanks in advance.
any advice, tips, pm's or offers are welcome.

I started on farm in sask. I would say it was the best learning experience I could've had. With a little luck the farm your working at is big enough go employ u year round. Down side right now there is no grain moving on the prairies.

hey thanks for the answer buddy. i will see what i can do. they might keep me year around otherwise there is hopefully a company out there to hire me. i would like to go canada only dry van or refrigerated.

No money in vans or reefers. Just a heads up
-
thank you. i might get some connections as soon as i start working.

Farm work is good experience. You learn a lot. The van companies may not recognize it though. One thing to remember though, those farm plates are also known as freedom plates because you get away with a lot more on a farm truck in Saskatchewan than on a commercial vehicle.
As for getting hired elsewhere, if Saskatchewan doesn't work out for you, try next door in Manitoba. Heard a couple of guys on the radio the other day who were brought in from Jamaica to drive truck here. -
Lucky you how did you manage to get an LMO job on a farm I was under the impression that was seasonal work ' your probhably going to be pulling super -B trailers lots of company's in the neighbouring states will hire you with super b experience ' good luck

Seasonal?? Cows get milked daily.

There's so much grain on the Canadian prairies this year that they don't have enough railcars to haul it and the farmers have no place to store it. They are hauling all winter long. With a lot of the big farms, they haul all winter anyways, but this year is crazy because the crops were so huge. Saskatchewan has been importing a lot of Europeans to fill farm, potash and oil/gas positions as well. The province is booming.

no, its just grain farming @prairieboy haha.
and i know those people @stacks. worked for them 3 years ago (work and travel) + they know i want to get into trucking so they support me as much as they can. what can i say they are canadians - wonderful people
but it is actually pretty easy to get a job if you qualify at least a little with your experience.
thanks for all the heads up.
