Thanks for the welcome to the Truckers Report. I have had my Class A CDL for 22+ years. Got them back when they started with the different classes of license. Had my chauffeur license at that time, so all I had to take was the written test, no driving test, got grandfathered in! I have driven just about everything from straight truck (26,000lb to 80,000lb) to tractor pulling flatbed, stepdeck & dropdeck trailers hauling equipment (mostly my own equipment). Can say that I have never pulled a van trailer! In my 22+ years, the only violation I got was about 8 years ago. Got pulled by DOT, passed inspection in my 1980 International truck, but got a violation for not wearing my glasses. Other than that, so far I've had a clean record.
With downturn in the economy, things have been pretty rough working for myself for the last 4 years. Closed the business in 2013 and looking for a different career. I have applied at Cargo Transporters in Claremont, NC. which is close to home. Now waiting for the recruiter to call with details for orientation. I have heard some good things about Cargo Transporters and they have orientation and training right here. I was not to crazy about having to got west or north this time of the year for other companies orientation, especially on a bus!
Anyway, thanks for the welcome and look forward to post more on my trucking experience as time goes!

Pretty amazing, 22 years and never pulled a dry van. Enjoy Cargo, I work here as well.
