At Pitt there had to be an opening for the position you wanted where you wanted to move to.

I figured it was them or Dayton Freight! I tried being hired with either one in Toledo but no look. I moved out of their area so it's old news.

Companies often require a certain amount of time with the company before being transfered to another yard. 6 months, 1 year whatever. When I transfered at my company I simply told my old manager about my plans and he contacted HR at the main office and then contacted the manager at the terminal I wanted to go to. There was an opening and I was good to go. But I still had to wait for my old manager to hire someone to replace me. You will probably lose your seniority, but in some companies you get it back after a year or on the next bid.

I know Con-Way Freight pays for your relocation. And they are very healthy in Cali. So that might be a good choice for you.

Some companies let you transfer and keep your top pay but loose seniority.

oh yeah, this too, you also have to be aware of the fact that most of this companies have different payscale in different regions. So you might make top pay in Cali at $23/hr but then in Phoenix top pay might be $21/hr. It all depends on the company and terminal.

Does anyone have any info/experience with UPS Freight Dedicated? Is this a linehaul type position?

LTL is an option. Not really looking to get into food service again. But if Sysco is paying...

30 min break. 30 min after the 10th hour. Our terminal has an hour lunch policy plus 30 min after the 10 the hour. It never bothered me much because I liked my breaks back when I was a city driver. If I wanted to work for a living I would've been a mechanic or something.
